Navy Dads

Good day to each of you. Glad I've found this site.

My son, Jared, left for RTC on the 30th and arrived safely that evening.

While I can't even to begin how proud of him I am I feel a bit selfish for missing him so much. I'm always wondering what he's doing. This is the first time that his Mom nor I cannot communicate with him. We know he's safe and being taken care of.

Jared is an amazing young man. He was lucky that this is the very first time whereas the Navy is allowing Navy Reserve Recruits to contract for Navy Diver. After Boot camp he will stay in Great lakes for 7 weeks of Navy Diver Prep and then onto Navy Dive A School in Panama city, Fl for about 14 weeks.

Prior to joining Jared was involved with other local members of SPECop recruits for working out, training in the water (YMCA) and being lead by an active duty Chief. Both his mom, step-dad and I were amazed at what shape he was in when he left. He has a clear goal and I know him, he'll achive it.

So, I bet each one of you know the feeling of wondering what your child is doing "right now". I'm glad I've found this site.

Thanks and let me know if your child is in Jared's ship and/or Div.

Thanks for the heads up William. If that happens would you please mind send me any pics via email as I do not use Facebook?

Best.....

Did the photos get posted, and where or how do we find them?

Yes--pic posted of entire Div. 820 following blood drive. The boys are looking good. FB page is a closed group.  Enter the following into the "Friend" search field and request to join:

Division 800, Special Ops, Great Lakes, IL, US Navy

I am not on FB so wondering if you could send me the pics via email.  My son is in Div 820 and we would love to see some pics of him!

Good morning.
I also do not use Facebook so if at all possible could someone send me the photo as well?
Thanks!!!

Wondering if anyone has a clue as to why our sailors have not yet been given the opportunity to make the second call?

Either it's the commanders' own set of rules or perhaps they are not coming to as a team and maybe this is sort of the carrot?

Any ideas?

Thanks

Tom:  My son didn't mention anything in his letters about team performance issues.  I think it's just a matter of the Division Commander's discretion/preference.

Hello Tom,

I am with you, as our son in now deployed with the CVN70 USS CARL VINSON. I remember what you are talking about all to well. David was a C and D student in school and we had our doubts on what and where he would get to. Those first four weeks with no word are a nail biter I'm tell ya. When his box of personal stuff came home that was a reality check for us.....we could no longer protect our son from this world lol.

Let me say that when he graduated...an amazing experience in it self he was a changed man. And I do mean MAN. My wife and I kept asking our self's "Is this our son???" I was never so proud, almost to the embarrassing of my son. He has warmed up to it now as I am still over the top with it. My two children are my life and he is kicking butt.

I am sure Jared is doing great, its hard but he can do it, sounds like he had it going on when he shipped out. We will pray for your child Tom and I look forward to hearing about his change in the next couple of months.

Make sure your phone is on and answer every thing that comes in UNKNOWN, in four weeks or so it will probably be him. He will earn a short phone call and send him cards and letters every day it will keep his spirits high. My son loved to get mail from us and my wife was over the top with it.

Any way Tom be relaxed knowing they are going to push him but not kill him lol.

Got questions ask away sir.

Jack and Lisa Shelton

Thank you kindly Bill and Jack.

About one week left. Holy cow. I simply cannot wait!!

I hope all is well with your sailors.

Tom

Tom. Just hang in there. My son just graduated on Sept 12th. It was a period of almost a month where i didn't hear from my son but everything was fine. No news is good news. If it's any problems that will delay your sailor's training the RDC's are personally supposed to make the recruit contact you. When i was in Navy boot camp i only got 2 phone calls but that was back in the 80's. Things are different now. The recruits are very busy. You will be very proud when you see your sailor PIR(Pass In Review). Believe me!!!!

As of 1900 EST Division 820 was making phone calls.

Thank you Brian. It's only 1745 hrs est now. Are the actually making calls now?
