My son transferred from NAS Lemoore to NAS Whidbey Island last summer and loves the area. Oak Harbor is the main town area around the base and is quite charming. My son is currently on deployment in Asia and is looking forward to getting back to base this fall.

Do you have any specific questions?

There is Seattle and everything that comes with it (Seattle aquarium, space needle, Pike Place Market, Starbucks Coffee, Professional Baseball, football, and soccer teams, a ton of good food and craft beer if you're of age, of course.) There are a ton of out door activities in the area and you can rent most camping gear, including travel trailers, from MWR. You can also get super cheap tickets to the baseball/football/soccer games through MWR. Usually they are upper level seats, but there is not a bad seat in Safeco Field. You can jump on I-90 and head about an hour or so east of Seattle and find a Ski resort or 2 if that's your thing. There is definitely not a shortage of things to do in that area.
