Hey y'all,
How long does someone usually spend in the line shack before getting to their shop? My son has been in the shack since last November when he joined his ship on deployment. They have returned and are in home port now.
He is getting very discouraged with the current situation. He is the kind of person that picks up the slack to make sure the job gets done and as you know, there is no shortage of slackers in the line shack.
That should be 'No sweat'
Hey Sammy,
My son waited for about 4 months in P-Cola before classing up. Keep reminding her that it's normal. Doesn't mean anything. So sweat. Just roll with it.
My son hit the gym pretty regularly to break the boredom.
Congrats and many thanks to Julia for her service!
Let's get the party started! Julia survived boot camp and the clock has started for her to class-up. I told her to keep busy- sailors that get bored get into trouble, so I hope she finds something to fill her time. I also reminded her that for the past 9 weeks she's been told what to do, what to wear, what to eat, etc for every minute of everyday... and now BAM you have all this time on your hands- use it wisely. Anyway, if you have a kid that just got into the holding pattern waiting for AE "A" School, hit me!
Andrew can you give CassOhioDad some insight?
Sorry to hear about the wait. That is unfortunately how it s. The wait varies with the rating and the amount of class space and number of sailors waiting. From what I remember Cassie's situation is about the same as my son Andrew. Tell her to keep a good attitude and find things to do. My daughter was doing volunteer service with some office that was helping sailors get started on the volunteer service ribbon.
She will get through it. My son is currently an AE2 on deployment and my daughter is with a squadron at NAS Oceana.
Tim,
Wow, that sounds cool. There is a lot going on in airplanes now a days. It drive me nuts sometimes. haha!
The EAWS (Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist) pin is what he is talking about. There are many, many signatures that he must get from others, who are qualified, in his book(s) once he as learned each bit of each section. He will take a written test and pass a oral exam board. Once he is done, he will be a knowledge expert on his aircraft and other various military subjects. If you ask him about it and he can tell you what is in his books. I earned my in the spring of 2011.
