Greetings everyone and Happy New Years
My son is an HM and will graduate boot camp Jan 15. We have been trying to find info on when his A-schoool will begin and what the class schedules are. If he gets put on hold he would like to spend the time preparing for the classes but has no way of getting an early schedule. Anyone who has been through Corpsman A-school please send me any info you can remember with any advice .. Thanks
Greg

thank you so much Cora, you have helped me get them some answers. I will make sure to tell them not to mention anything about his eye sight. Thank you again....

Yes it does and thank you Cora....but what happened to his being disqualified due to not having any depth percep...or does it matter anymore since he has been on the fleet for over 2 years....he still doesn't have any depth percep

My son is at Navy Boot camp, now.....but my question is this....I have a friend who's son has been in the Navy since July 07, he went undesig... cause he has no dept percep. His own personal dr states this also, from an eye injury. He had signed for AE, went to BC and was told by medical there that he didn't qualify for AE, due to no depth percep. So he went in undesig. His mom just told me that he said that they gave him his AE job back, and would soon be getting new orders. He has never went to A school or any other A school for that matter. I told her that i thought that he would have to go to A school before he got his AE job and she said no that he will be just "doing hands on training" on the ship and will get his new job class when he receives his new orders, that he doesnt have to go to A school since he is already in the Navy. Is this right? She said he took a test to see if he would qualify for this AE job and he passed it so he doesnt have to go to A school, now.

As far as I know, the Fleet Ride Program is part of the PTS or Perform To Serve program for all first time sailors that have been recommend for retention when their first tour nears complettion. It helps define what rates the sailor qualitifies for.........I think..............

I spoke at length to a mom from N4M last week about this very subject...it is NOT a bad thing at all!

Grace,

We also have a group called Ask a Recruiter on the site. These recruiters are very helpful and a great resource to us parents. I'm sure they'll be able to help you with your questions about your Sailor and his rate.

I've always heard that going to the fleet undesignated is not a bad thing. Keep us informed on how it go's.
