What's going on? I'm writing a book about the humor in NavAv Flight school. And there was plenty when I went thru.

I was in the sub service I did not have a lot of contact with the Marines. There was a detachment at the Key West Naval Station. I met a few of the Marines that stood gate duty. Not many much other contact.

I went thru thru Naval Flight Training 59-60. I enjoyed it immensely --so demanding but lots of humorous situations arose. Like the Ens who forgot that his bodily functions didn't cease when he climbed in the cockpit.
I had been a Marine platoon leader in Lebaanon. I thought I was supposed to 'hate' the Navy. In flight school I learned to have great respect for my Navy cousins. I think they reciprocated.

It does seem to be that way?

One of the most interesting things about Navy and Marine aviators is that they eat together, attack together, go on liberty together, and do all sorts of things together --- but they sleep separately.

Brad,
Pass my congratulation along to Garrett!

Ok, I think he enjoyed the Det A assignment on the Cowpens since he was a part of a smaller group, and less destractions. The carrier is good for him to accomplish more various flights he needs to progress. I am proud he is part of the only permenent forward deployed carrier.

Great news! Garrett passed his TSO boards on the GW! This is the final big qual for rescue swimmers to be responsible for everything in the SH-60 behind the cockpit.
