God Bless him Jim. Military schedules can be the PITS. I stood at sea watches with only two personnel for the duty on what we called tired on tired off. You stayed on watch as long as you felt you could and so did your relief. Usually we had at least three people for the duty station, which meant 8 on and 16 off. Even so there is no place to go on a diesel sub at sea. It seem that you can only read so much, sleep so much, or play so many card games.

Nice job Garrett!

Well, Garrett transfered onto the GW from the Cowpens during their port in Thailand. He hopes to complete his "boards" for 3rd level ASW/ASWC (the old TSO qual) and his final checkout flight. Hopefully he gets it done before they get back to Japan!

He knows about the keys to the plane, 3 feet of gig line, a few other things but I reckon getting JET ENGINE ehxaust samples with a PLASTIC bag was beyond his reasoning :)
I got the 2 am call... soon as the prank was done he was on the phone trying to explain it to me, except he was laughing too hard to be coherent

Except for the 3:00 AM when they rolled us out of the rack saying to get flight gear and report to the ready room asap for a medevac. The new kid on ready room watch was told to make coffee, and found the water tap down the passage way. Nothing like that first big gulp of coffee made with salt water....

Stephen,
I been to af ew of those "I didn't think I knew about this" early morning asignments. The coffee does help to get the numbness out of you at "O dark thirty".
