My son arrived at RTC the same day as Evan. I got his box 6 days later. The box had all his clothes, and his cell phone. Our recruiters said that a minority (maybe 30%) keep their phones. (Not sure if anybody else has been told anything similar.) We're not concerned about his phone because he has a phone card in his wallet. He apparently also was able to keep his wristwatch. We've recieved no letters of any kind from him yet. I am hoping for one soon. Oh - if only there were a webcam in their barracks! But alas, we will get our stories later. All the best wishes and prayers for Evan, my son, and all the SRs at RTC!
Following up from my previous post (9/3). I got the form letter today. It is a lot of the same info that is contained on this site. The good news is, I now have an address so I can send letters. I hope anyone whose sons are in the same general date range as mine, are able to do the same.
Hey Ruben,
Glad to hear there are more than just me waiting on this TG. My son got there Tuesday night, we got his text and box, we heard no cell phones were kept by the SRs. I guess now we just hurry up and wait. BTW, welcome to the group.
Hey everybody, Everything is cool! If the Navy does't want them to have things, they will be sent back one way or another.I found my sons phone in one sock and the battery in the other.
things will get better (Trust me,ask anyone on this site) I was a basket case after the first letter(I miss you, bla, bla ,bla)Now my lateist letter is "We"ll be wearing our dress whites so have the camera ready" It seems like 8 weeks is so long but the last 2 weeks are here now and I'm scammbling to get my stuff together to be at PIR.
Hey Jeremy,
Glad to hear that, it looks like we will all be at the same PIR 10/23, we are looking forward to meeting you all. Was anyone here planning on the meet and greet on 10//22? My guess is it's a smaller TG and they had to wait around for more SRs to show up. My son is also ship 2, division 950 like Ruben's.

Greetings Joe S. and everyone!
Joe, our daughter got there Tuesday, 9/1 as well! Received her box yesterday, but haven't opened it yet. Momma will be a wreck when we do. We are going to take pictures of it and with it for her scrapbook.
Stay in touch please. If our kids aren't in the same division, we'll at least be there at the same time.
Looks like I'm a week behind you somehow Joe. Your son must have got there at the right time to get in 950, congrats to you both. My daughter is in Ship 11, Div 362, so I believe her 900 company will be 951 graduating on 30 October.
See you around the boards.
Hey Jeremy,
I'm not sure how he ended up in 950 as that is a performing division. I still haven't talked to him yet, so I'm still in the dark, I think he prefers it that way! :) Congrats to you and your daughter too, I think these 8 weeks will fly by.
Joe

I told my daughter that she should request the 900 company even though she was never in band, choir or otherwise engaged in performing. She and I watched a PIR a couple of nights before she left and she was interested in the 900 company and their flag procession and such.
We haven't talk to our daughter either and I don't expect to for another week or two. Sent off my first letter to her today and I'm hoping she wrote us on Sunday.
Now that we're over the hump of receiving the box, form letter and writing her, I think it will fly by fast as well.
My wife just called to let me know "the box" arrived from our SR as well. However his phone wasn't inside. His charger is there, but no cell phone. Now we're just waiting for the form letter.
