My son is in Div 128, same PIR. I've been watching the navy for moms group. From the limited reports it sounds like my son's division may not be doing so hot. My wife is going crazy for sure.
I think it's normal boot camp stuff and that it will get better. I'm thinking my son is probably still in shock.
Hi Mike. From what I've read in these forums, almost every SR eventually figures out what is expected of them, each in their own time, and then it gets easier in the final weeks, and their confidence grows. If GL graduates 42,000 sailors per year, the odds are pretty good for everybody.
Regarding my own son, I only have a phone call and a letter to go by, so I'll still be worrying and waiting as the process moves forward. It's definitely a tough time for parents, but all we can do is write to them with encouragement and pride.
Hope you get some good news soon.
We got the phone call that he was there and safe, and we got the form letter with the neatest printing he's even done. Other than the Navy for Moms group driving my wife crazy, we are doing fine.
My wife just mailed a letter that will probably get my son in trouble. In it, she complained that other moms have received letters. She also reminded him not to be the one causing extra IT. Can't wait until the RDC reads that. Sorry son, it wasn't dad.
I wouldn't worry too much about the RDC reading your son's mail. I understand (from other forums) that only the letters with photos are briefly scanned. Regardless, your son serves a new master now, and your wife's comments are only her own, and your son's reaction to them is entirely his choice.
