This is my 2 cents. Most everything in life can be planned for with some certainty. Except PIR. Step out on faith. It's much easier than worrying about something that is completely out of your control.

I figure they try to put the fear of God in them. Thanks for your input. I'm really glad this website is here and everyone is so willing to help. This is all new to us (tried to get in the Navy but they don't like asthma) so all of you are such a great resource. More than you realize!

Craig, for whats it worth, listen to Brian.  I would not read to much into that. RDC's are going say a lot of things to enforce 'discipline'.  I would think it is highly unlikely a whole division will be moved due to a small group. For one, that would be a glaring admission of some serious command issues. Now, I am not an expert and my only reference is being a military brat myself and serving for a short time as an adult.

Thank you for the info. In her letter she mentioned they've threatened to set back the whole division. She states there are some behavior issues with a small segment. She is so frustrated in her letters. Just didn't know if they would ever do that.

Craig B....Her gradation date is set in stone for her division...whether or not she's part of it is the question.  There are many variables that could keep a recruit from graduating on time..academic, behavior, PRT failure, medical, not getting through battle stations etc.  Unfortunately, there is still a chance of her not graduating on time up to the week of the graduation.  

My advice to you is just go ahead and plan on being there for her scheduled graduation date and hope for the best...and you are right, you definitely need to go and watch her graduate.  Congrats!

PIR dates are solid. If your Recruit runs into issues, she will inform you in advance(1-2 weeks).....usually it would relate to not passing the Fitness Test (up to 3 attempts). Hopefully all will go as planned!

Our daughter is scheduled for PIR on November 4th. How far in advance at that date will you typically find out that that will be the date vs being put back? I'm freaking out a bit. I travel for work and fly home on Fridays. The nature of the job is that I can't leave for home any earlier but would need someone to fill in for me the entire week. If PIR ends up being a moving target, this could get ugly for me as I don't think I could forgive myself for not being there. Any and all insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

Carlos, speaking from someone who has been to PIR, they were everywhere. Some who were helping in upper deck seating probably would not be caught in the video or pictures.

Carlos...they can serve many different functions...from assisting guests, to check-in, to ushering...inside and out! He may not be easy to find. Keep scanning and keep your fingers crossed!
