Welcome Phil! My son is a CTR3. I have been with Navy Dads since before he went to Boot. You are correct, it is a great online community. Howie just ask a question or share some good news!
My daughter is at A school at Corry now too. I read every message left here because I get the email alerts. This site is the best, I've learned a ton via Navy Dads.
I do occasionally, but usually just lurk. I live in Pensacola, I was a CTT, and my son is in CTN "A" school at Corry. So I have few questions, but enjoy the postings, and do learn stuff since the CT world has changed so much. Craig is also a font of knowledge about CT career info.
Howie:
I hope that I am posting this in the correct spot. My son is an instructor at Corry and here was his response.
I can not answer fo the CTR school house but i can tell you that the Sailors ability to go home for Thanksgiving will be soley based on him doing a couple of things.
1. good grades
2. Not getting in trouble
3. Routing a proper out of area chit in a timely maner
4. not having duty that weekend
Hope that this helps.
Steve
Robert - My daughter waited two months to class up. She tells me that it is not unusual with CTT's. I have heard of some waiting even longer.
Phil - I'm glad your daughter got a good meal. My daughter also got to get into Subway before they ran out of food yesterday and had some good comfort food. She was much happier last night. She said that the MRE's were OK but were stopping everyone up and greating a "gas problem" for many...lol. I told her to remember the boys in Iraq and Afganistan with sand in their boots that would give anything to be in a hanger in GA eating MRE's and waiting out the storm. She needed a little perspective.
Hi Robert- My daughter is CTT too, and she was PIR in July 20. She is in "att" school at Pensacola, and they evacuated to Georgia. Originally her graduation date for att school was supposed to be @ 3rd week of September, her concern is that willl get pushed back now. Her worry is that the next school is supposed to graduate just before Christmas, and she was hoping to come home for the holidays. Sorry I don't have the exact answer for you, just thought I'd share what she has told me.
Oh and he is a CTT any one else have a son there waiting.
So my sailor is in pensicola during the storm and said they were locked down in there barraks except to go to the gally. He survived all is well but now he said they just pushed his date back to start school cause others had changed job and now are going in his place. So does any one have any input on this or know how long they keep pushing the start date back?
Yes. We spoke to our daughter last night, she is vegetarian and can't wait to get back to Pensacola!
