Jack, NATTC is where a 6 year CTT's & CTM's will go to learn basic electronics.  NATTC is located at NAS Pensacola (about 5 mile up the road from Corry).  Once he's done, he will move to Corry.

If I were him, I would have focused on learning the basic electronics stuff in my off time, instead of volunteering to be a yeoman.  The yeoman is good if he already knew his job, but him just starting out he really needs to focus on what's important.  CTT school isn't an easy ride, it is hard.  If he learns now to make time to study, then he will go far.  Just saying....

Thank you Crag you're right.  My son just called an he is finishing up phase 1 at NATTC and will start phase 2 tomorrow.  He said yes he will be in training for about 1 yr 7 mo.  He has so much free time that he asked for some other work and he is being trained as a Yoeman, he'll work the job part-time until classes begin.  It is not changing his rate.  He says that it saves him money because he is not out and about so much.

My son is a 6 year CTT.  He said they are putting him and someone else in a temporary job as a Yoeman to keep them busy until they have enough to class up.  I will try to make arrangements to take his car, some civvies, paper work, etc. in the middle of May.  Hopefully he can get some kind of chit signed that will allow me to stay at one of the hotel/motel on the base while I'm there.  Craig what is the difference between Corry and NATTC?  He told me right after he got there that he would not be at Correy for the first part of his training.

Jack- My son is a 4yr CTT...he had a couple periods where he had to wait to Class-up.  He was on Corry Station from Oct 11-Mar 12.  From what I understand, your son will have to get used to waiting for sure.  He will absolutely have time off and it's COMPLETELY different from BC.

Jack - It depends on if he's a 4 year CTT or a 6 year CTT.  Corry Station and Naval Air Technical Training Center (NATTC) are completely different.

Either way he won't be trained in a temporary rating it cost too much.  He will be in holding company.  He will actually enjoy being in holding company since it allows a bunch of time off.  If he is a 6 year CTT, tell him to get use to holding company.  It takes about 1 year 7 months to complete the training course and get to your 1st duty station.

Most training is Mon-Fri, with the weekends free unless there is a need for "intense study time", read you guys screwed up and so your going to give up free time studying to make amends. They will have extra duties in addition to training needs of course, but it is no where as strict as BC was and depending on how fast he "classes up" he may even have off base privliges in a few weeks.

I think I made a mistake.  I hope I'm on the right forum.  My SA recently graduated from BC and was sent to Pensacola to begin his CTT training, he has been put on hold.  I believe our SA is fortunate because he is being trained for a temporary position, rate, until they have enough SAs.  Better than counting grains of sand.  I asked my SA would this go down on his record?  He did not know.  How is he treated as far as time off is concerned?  Is it possible that he might have 2 days a week off?

Not sure if anyone here is interested but if you're going to be in the Monterey area around Aug 17th to 19th you might want to see the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Laguna Seca race track just down the road. This year it's a Shelby Cobra celebration and it's always done first class.

Paul,

You should be, that is awesome!  If you go out for his graduation, try to stay at the Navy Lodge, it's got a facinating history.  I would also recommend a drive down the coastal highway.
