Wow, what a wonderful welcome. Thanks to everyone who responded so quickly, it was very much appreciated!!
I mention that as I found this on NavyDep.com:
" JCAC is unique in that it is considered both an "A" school and a "C" school. The navy uses JCAC as the "A" school for new accessions (Sailors first entering the navy trying to get rated as a CTN), but for other services it is considered their "C" school (advanced technical school for a particular job.) Most Sailors will get orders somewhere around week 16 to week 20. Immediately after graduation those students will transfer from Corry Station and go to their gaining command (usually leave in between and a couple of days proceed time depending on how far away from Pensacola their ultimate station is located.) Right now there are no additional "C" schools for CTN. The only other option is for those students qualified for ION. We can't discuss that job on this forum, but there are addition requirements for that position. If someone qualifies for that role, they may transfer immediately to Ft Meade, or they may remain on station here until a seat is available for ION at Ft Meade. There is an "F" school here at Pensacola called Joint Network Attack Course (JNAC), but it is usually reserved for senior enlisted and officers."
can't find info about C-schools (since I'm on the outside looking in...), but there is a Navy Crypto FB page:
Hi! I'm new to this site and have not yet read all the posts, sorry. I was wondering about C school for CTN's. My husband goes to Pensacola for A school and I was wondering if C school is there as well or could it be in another location?
Tell him to get used to waiting around. It seems to be the Navy way. My son waited even longer to get started "on the job" at this first duty station than he waited to "Class Up" at Corry. :)
My son is CTT and currently waiting to "Class Up"... he seems to be getting more and more comfortable... Spending a lot of his free time at the mall and "hanging out" with his buddys. (Much the same as when he was home with mom and dad....hmmmmm) :-)
My son is a CTN2 and has been at Corry since 9/08 and loves it there. They will keep the new arrivals busy until they start formal classes. Just let him know to watch himself when he goes off base until he really learns his way around the town. My son lived between the Waffle House and WalMart until he got his car down there.
Kids classes finally started. To say the least, he is SUPER EXCITED for his job. Am happy that he is not just sitting around anymore. He is as well.
Glad to hear it Phil. He will enjoy it down there once he settles in to a routine. They all do. :)
My Sailor arrived at Corey Station last night. His PIR was this past Friday. He is settling in well and enjoying the relaxation.
