I think he will like it there. My son has found it enjoyable but I think he does get a bit homesick. He is with the GW carrier group in the Yellow Sea right now. I know he feels quite safe off base at Yokosuka.

Just heard from my son and he has past all his testing for his HT classes. He got his verbal orders and is waiting for his written orders. He's going to Japan for his first and maybe his last port. Not sure if is Yokosuka, but he did say he would be on a flat deck for helicoppters, he gave the ship name & number, but I did'nt write it down. I will have to make the days home count more than if he ws ported in the same State.

My son is currently assigned (as of May27) to the USS Shiloh stationed in Yokosuka, Japan. He is actually getting to use some of the stuff he learned in A school and enjoys the professionalism and spirit of his shipmates.

Hi Rick, Bradley graduated 7/31 ! He reports to his A-school Monday 8/3. Had no idea about anything regarding his school. I guess he was worked up about finally going thru PIR. The PIR was awesome. We really enjoyed seeing him and having him home for the weekend. Brandon (thats the name we concidered before Bradley) might be in his class then.
Is the hulltech a 4yr or 6yr commitment? Ive read things that say 6 but Bradley says its only 4. Ill have to ask him if he knows Brandon. Sorry I havent commented earlier... we were wound up towards PIR, then we kinda wound down after he went back to base... he is so different now. Its good to see him be so grown up and polite and mature.

Has Bradley laid out his A School Program as he knows it? Brandon says that he does'nt know of very many people going into the Hull Tech Div. Brandon did say they have a bunch of firefighters and he starts that glass this Monday and that goes for 2 months. They might hold him from starting his HT class until thsy get more guys. When HT class starts is Speculation on my part, I'll have to wait to see happens. Let me know how Bradley does through bootcamp.

Hey Rick... I just saw the group you started. I thought the only groups were the featured groups. I would have just joined yours. Bradley reports to his school 8/01. They probably will go together.

He will now start is fist week on monday 7/27/09 ofor his firefighting class for 2 months, than his 4 months for his HT classes. I started an Hull Tech forum because I could'nt find one either. Bradley & Brandon could be in the same HT class depending when Brandon Starts his. lets stay in touched and see what happens. good luck and congrats on your son's enlistment.

Our son Bradley -Ship 003, DIV 260- has passed battle stations and is a US NAVY sailor! He will be going to A-school after his PIR 7/31 at Great Lakes. We are proud and excited for him. I wanted to join a hull tech group but didnt see one. So I decided to start this group to share his experiences and hear of your sons/daughters too.
