Hey Tess,

When Nick left on Friday to head to Offutt the Navy paid his way. When Nick graduated from boot he had to pay his way home for leave. Therefore, when a sailor wants leave and it is approved by his/her chain of command then it is the responsibility of the sailor or his/her parents to pay the sailors way home and back. Now, you never buy your tickets before your leave has been approved but Matt or his parents can go online to purchase the tickets 24/7 or wait until the travel office opens on base in SA to buy tickets. Usually the office in question is either called the travel office or the MWR office. MWR stands Moral Welfare and Recreation.

I hope this helps Tess. If you have any further questions please let us know. Take care and talk to you soon. DH

Maybe you guys can answer a question for me? Pretty sure I know the answer but it never hurts to clarify. When a sailor comes home on leave, it's his responsibility to purchase the ticket (assuming parents can do this also)? This should be done in advance but all paperwork, tickets, etc. needs to get approval before they're allowed to leave correct. There is some place on base in SA that closes for the weekend for travel approval?

I'm being a bit tongue in cheek there, actuallyI enjoyed my time very much and was delighted when our son (actually my step son) decided to join the Navy.

Too funny! Oh yea, isn't that a sad case of affairs?? I know that sometimes 15 years of doing anything can certainly feel like forever. I did 4 active and 17 reserves.

I did 15 years ...you get less for murder ;-)

David,

Yea there is a reason why those style of cammies have been around for almost forever. Absolutely, the duties dictate the style, pattern, and color configuration. How many years did you serve? Thanks for your service by the way!! DH

Hi Daryl, he has a set of the digital blue camo gear but (assuming the teams's website is up to date) it goes to great lengths to explain that they will be issued with greens and to know their sizes...Maybe they feel it more effective for the duties they undertake ?

David, See I thought that they all changed to digits style cammies which are more blue than anything else. I thought they discontinued the greens not to long ago.
