My sailor will be home on his first leave (from A school) in about a month. I'd like to get him something that he can bring with him wherever he goes... any suggestions? Thanks.

There are also some really nice hotels in the downtown area.If I am not mistaken they are not more than about 15-20 minutes from Lackland.

Heard from our sailor again today,all is going ok on theVINSON down in Haiti.He cant wait to get back home and get a home cooked meal.I think they will be back inthe states sometime next month,not sure though.When he does its off to San Antonio.He did say that when it was time if they weren't back he would be catching a hop to Gitmo then to either Norfolk or Florida.Who knows until it's time.

For the short stay near AFB for the 2/19 pinning, it's starting to look like La Quinta will be the place. But I'm also wondering if anyone can shed some light on what kind of base access permission p/work we'll need and how we we get all that worked out with our son's CPO. Once again, anyone out there who's been to a pinning and what the protocol is??

Hey everyone. So great to hear of your sailors' service in Haiti. My son just started MA training this week (pinning on 3/12) and got PRP. He thinks he'll go to Bangor in WA State. He did OC today and made it through just fine. Said he "didn't squeel like a little girl". Ha ha!

Pinn Rd or Old US90W are near the base. There are a lot of them.

A second on the request for hotels near Lackland AFB. Heading there on 2/18 for the 2/19 pinning.

Terry,congrats to your family and your son on the pinning.My son is in Haiti right know and will go to San Antonio After the Vinson gets back to port.Tell your son thanks from all of us for what he does.
