Randy,
Thanks for your comments. My son impresses me everyday. He just sounded so mature when we talked. I remember my dad telling me once that a father/son relationship should progress from authority/subjegation to close friendship as the son gets older. I feel that happening now. I believed then and still believe that him joining the Navy was the best decision he has made yet.
Natalie,
Is your boss going to the graduation? If so, I'll try to look him up while there if he's interested. Maybe his son and mine are in the same platoon? I don't even know what platoon my son is in. I guess that's terrible. I'll find out. In the meantime, I have enclosed the blank stare picture. I'm glad you enjoyed the remarks. We laughed about it as well.
Thanks, Dave. One of my boss' son will graduate in the same FMTB with your son. I read your last post to my husband. We both laughed. The blank look and trash sounded all too familiar. You will be so amazed at the changes in your son. Great and wonderful changes that will keep you smiling. Have a great time and just enjoy. You gave the Navy a boy and they're giving you back a man.
David, enjoyed your thoughts as a father..........we all sit in ah of what
they will learn and do in the yrs to come.
College is one metod of learning but he is in the middle of something
much larger. He will still have the chance to get his college papers
but before that happens he will learn more abou life and duty to
others never listed in a college catalog.
You will be amazed as time moves on in his change and growth
as a Corpsman..........very Special people.
Let us know how the graduation goes........enjoy

Talked to my son yesterday afternoon. He said that they went to the range last week and target parcticed. He said it was nerve racking at first, but then started to get fun. He said that a spent shell ejected from his buddies rifle and landed between my son's neck and flak jacket. He said he looks like he's branded like a cow now. He posted a picture someone took of him with a blank expression on his face. I joked that that was the same look he use to give me when I asked if he took the trash out. He said now all I have to do is start counting down from 10 and half his platoon would rush to dump it. He sounded so grown up. It occurred to me he has now gone from being a college drop out to being a warrior. He has two more weeks of FMTB. Can't wait to see him. So proud of him.
Thanks Natalie. This is a big help. I looked it up on Google Earth and found it. Here's to good luck to your son. Thanks again.
Doug my son reported to Bethesda in July. He really likes it, he works on the cancer ward. My son flew into Ronald Reagan Intl. If your son arrives there also have him go to the USO they will have a phone number for him to call the duty driver at Bethesda and they will come pick him up.

David and Paul, my Corpsman graduated from CP FMTB two years ago. If you click on the F West above and go to directions, the driving ones to Main Gate and once inside are correct. You will get right to the FMTB building and there is a large parking lot to the right of the building. There were bleachers outside in front of the FMTB building. Check inside the building, they might be showing a video (that you can buy there at the table out front) of your son's training. they also sold a few other FMTB items. Wish I had bought a couple other items because I haven't found them again. Ceremony was good. So amazing how much they grow in that training. They will not be FMF until later once they have been with a Marine unit and do some more training and take some tests. Then they can earn the coveted FMF pin. Congrats to both your sons! Hope you enjoy your trip!
My son is graduating A school at Fort Sam soon. His orders have him going to Bethesda. Does anyone know anything about the situation there? I believe he will be HM and stationed there for 2 years. (according to him) Thank you in advance for any information.
