Check out this link. Article on 2nd Med BN in Afg. My boy Nick and his team had an imbedded reprorter for 3 days at their shock-trauma-platoon.

Smiled reading your comment about your son saying "His Marines"

After forty plus yrs our corpsman are considered as Green as any

Marine to date.

They are very special and are part of every reunion and e-mails

pasted to Marines of the time always includes the "Docs"

Rest assured he is considered" Their Doc" and is in good hands

Ric, John and Mark thanks guys. This was the first deployment we had been through. Boy do I have a greater appreciation for what our military does! Even when my son is back and safe I'll always remember to pray for the ones still out there.

Dennis, I too would ask that you send along my thanks to your son.  My son returned from Marja in February.  He has been reunited with his fiancé since that time.  My wife and I have let them have some time together however next week he is visiting us in Indiana so we will have some high quality down time with him.  You will be united with your son soon.  I know it cannot be soon enough.  Prayers are with both your son and you.  Hang in there!

Dennis, thank your son for his service when he gets back for me. My son is on pre-deployment leave now and will be visiting beautiful Helmond Province soon with who he calls "his marines" OORAH!

Dennis, As a father of a 18 year old daughter who is a new Navy Corpsman who has shipped to Japan recently, I understand where your coming from. Certainly not the hard condition's your son is enduring. First time "being away from home, hell, out of country." Daughter or son, our kid's are close to our heart. My prayers and best wish's to your family.

Since September my son has been deployed with his marine brothers on the front lines in Helmand Prov. Afghanistan.  Hard conditions, cold and hungry, rare to have a phone available and no pc's.( no Christmas or thanksgiving meals like the news showed) He mostly wrote of how proud and honored he was to fight with his marines and how they were the best. Yes I'm a proud father of a 8404 Corpsman! But I am also proud of all those young guys doing a very tough job that the news media has totally abandoned. My son's batalion is due to return soon, some of his friends will not step off the buses with them. Please remember those still in the fight over there and the ones that replace them and the wounded that are recovering.

Barring further delays, on April 17, Hospital Corps School will convene its last HM "A" School Class in Great Lakes and will graduate sometime in July. After April 17, all Sailors Going to HM "A" will go to San Antonio, Texas

Ok, maybe I should read closer next time.... I just re-read your post and saw it said A School for Corpsman. Sorry! I was thinking PIR. Been a long day. As far as Corpsman School, you are on the right track. You will have to get a copy from someone. Sorry for the confusion there. I'll crawl back under my rock.  =)  TC
