Good morning!
Thank you for accepting me in this group, and excuse me for not posting before.
My son is an AZ, he is deployed right now.
I miss him, like the 1st day he left for "Boot Camp".
He has become a much better young man, God bless him!!
Nice day all!
thanks Sandy, I'm on EST( so that would be 1500)
Blondie, will be joining you and everyone for a moment of Silence for Sean at 1400 Central Standard Time.
concerning Sean Reynald's his families funeral will be Mon. at 2:00 in TX
Since I cannot drink at work nor travel to TX, I suggest Mon. at 2:00 we have a minute of Silence and be one with Sean sending our Love, Support and Strength. .Who is with me?
.
Heath & I spent the day today dealing with the nightmare that is Military paperwork only to come back to our hotel here on the base to find a package full of cards from so many of you Navy Moms. You've overwhelmed us with your love, encouragement and prayers. They came at just the time that we needed some more encouragement as I'll be leaving at the end of this weekend to come back home. I've wondered so many times as I've walked around the base if any of the men and women that I have passed may be your children. Wish I knew. I'd love to tell them what wonderful parents they have.
Thank you especially to Sue, Blondie, Connie, Marianne (you shouldn't have, thank you), Mona and Babara.
I pray that God blesses each one of you for your kindness to us.
Love from Japan
Robin & Heath
I suggest to contact your State VA rep for they will be able to provide you with contact info via your local service organizations. I have kids in our SQ who do not plan for such circumstances. Since EAFB is over seas there is a clause that will get you out of AK but you have to find a ride from Seattle (your parents or your brother/sister or your spouse imed family only). You need to contact the your local red cross they will have POC for agencies that may also help.Yes, Molley may be help too. However, grandparents are not often recognized like a imed family member unless they actually was the one who raised you. the tickets one is booked by the Society is not the best price but there is a guarantee. This is an example one needs to teach your child to plan for emergencies. They too need a financial safety plan, they are earning a pay check. I may hit a note but my son is making more than I att for I am only a GS-5 and barely making ends meet with Son #2 in tow who is not cheap to raise.
Living in AK one always plans for such circumstances. In order to plan for the unknown, I have put up a fund for such circumstances, since both my boys will be down south. I suggest to put away $20/month or more if you can and then add more when you can. I put more in when I get my tax refund, which is placed in a hide away account. The spending money is the next step. At the moment I am working on that task but if I have to fly I will be gone in a NY minute. I suggest not plan to use a credit card if all possible.
Since I am a bit far from home it is a good idea to start networking with folks (ie., your kids Navy friends who may have freinds near where your sailor is stationed), and with FB it is an easy task now days...Network Network Network for you never know what life has to offer. I met a lady who lives near by my son's command and we have become good friends and in fact she said if I ever need a place, just call. Which is very pleasing to know if I have to go down south for him, for I am not welcomed by ex in laws.
Also, look into a credit card that offers miliage. Up here we all have AK Airlines who partners with other carriers and one earns milage quickly. The service orgs often give AF/AR folks who have to leave on Emergecnies to the lower 48 a ticket which is acheived by folks who have donated milage to the troops.
Another option is contact your local Family Advocacy (find a military base near home). They will also help with such circumstances. No they may not fund the trip but will help coordinate one's housing, etc. The AK National Guard Family Advocacy is our POC since my son is in the Navy (No Naval Base in AK), so I was informed if I need to assistance, just call.
If you have questions, just send a note..Hope this will help you out....
Jill, contact the airlines directly....we tried to get help for my son to come home for his grandfather's funeral.....not much out there. The Marine/Navy Relief Society will help book a flight and will loan your sailor the money which will be deducted from their paycheck over months.
Anyone wanting to send a card or letter to Heath, I have a navy mom traveling to Japan in 10 days!! she plans on visiting Heath at that time and hand delivering them! I've sent cards and boxes but never sure which address to use, ship, base hospital, Yokosuka hospital????? This is a sure way to KNOW he gets your card and feels the love.
You are all just amazing us and humbling us with your willingness to lift Heath up to the Lord. We can never tell you what it means to us. Thank you. God is hearing your prayers.
With much love,
Scott & Robin Fishburn
Amen!
anyone wanting to join in one voice we are praying every morning at 9 am EST for Japan and our service members stationed there. (we've been doing this since the earthquack). And now we are joining again at 6 pm EST to Pray for Heath and all our military that are ill or injured. God works in mysterious ways.
on a sad note, are you all aware of the missing sailor form the Boxer? the web site has been shot down, not sure if it wasn't released correctly, I believe it gave the sailor's name or if it is getting to many hits, I'll let you know when I hear something more. just please pray!
