My son just selected for the E2/C2 from Pensacola.  He'd hoped for jets and had been top of his group with recommendations but unfortunately they didn't have any open slots the week he did…Continue

Eight years ago today my son was sworn in at MEPS in Petersburg VA.  Happy Anniversary son!

Tom,

Congratulations on a very proud moments for a Navy family to watch their son receives his wings.  We experienced that for ourselves just over 5 years ago.

Our son transitioned to the Prowler community after wining and just recently transitioned to the Growler and is a flight instructor at Whidbey Island.

Best wishes and good luck in the next phase of your son's naval training.

Thanks for the info. Looked up the site for picture of the T 45 and found a picture identical to a picture of our son landing on the USS Ronald Reagan but quality of our picture is not as good. Ironically our son graduated college with a degree in construction management. He too gets the look!!!
He is in the same group of the pilots killed in the crash. He knew the 2 killed. The patch they developed for their qualification on the carrier had 2 jets fling over the carrier (for the 2 killed) and cockpit with a tiger in the back seat.

Tim he has talked about the Legacy in Oceana but really I think he will take any jet that takes off and lands on a  carrier.  He just loves what he is doing. When he took off on the aircraft carrier it was a lifetime high for him and can't wait to do it again.  They all have worked so hard to get to this point I pray they all get their first choice.

GANNavyDad I love your idea for the framed picture. How did you get the NAS patches and the painting of the T45?

Congratulations to all the new Navy pilots. My son is in Meridian, MS and just qualified on the USS Ronald Reagan and should be Winged in October. He is leaning toward the F/A Hornets. It truly is amazing to see the changes in our son too. Not sure what to expect on the winging ceremony and the Hornets.

Dream Big ! First Landing on the Moon: 20 July 1969

Neil Alden Armstrong (August 5, 1930 – August 25, 2012) was an American astronaut and the first person to walk on the Moon. He was also an aerospace engineer, naval aviator, test pilot, and university professor. Before becoming an astronaut, Armstrong was an officer in the U.S. Navy and served in the Korean War. After the war, he earned his bachelor's degree at Purdue University and served as a test pilot at the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics High-Speed Flight Station, now known as the Dryden Flight Research Center, where he logged over 900 flights. He later completed graduate studies at the University of Southern California.
