Thanks Jim, he is in his last week of BC and already has his orders, he thought he would graduate from A school on the first of November which is a monday. I figured it was probaly the day he shipped out. We see him for a few hours after PIR Friday.

Thanks Craig and everyone else! This is a good way to communicate, about whats going on with our sailors. Man I bet they are sufferinf in Pensacola. Did that tropical storm hit around there?

Mike, your son needs to know that when he gets to the fleet he will be "Mess-Cranking" for 90 days or more. He will not even begin to do what he's trained for until that time. If it were possible for my son or nephew to join for 4 years, I'd would rather have them do that. There is just too many more benefits if you hold off. Examples: The commands will probably send you to "C" school on their nickle, The "STAR" programs for guaranteed "C" school upon reinlistment, Zone "A" SRB...

I do know that the power was out on the base today.

Does anyone here have a son or daughter that graduated from boot on 7-23-10, and left for Pensacola at 2 AM on 7-24? If so, have you heard from them yet, or have any idea when they will be able to call home.

Thanks Craig, I think he signed up four 4-4, we will see. I'll let him know, he may want to do that.

Mike, that is kind of difficult to answer. It really depends if you sailor signed up for 4,5, or 6 years. If he signed up for 6 years, then he will have a guaranteed "C" school. If he signed up for 4 years, and if is does ok in school, then he will be offered a "C" school, but he will probably be required to extend for the school. Depending which NEC you could possibly earn, will depend if you want to extend for the school.

Ok, I have a new question. What qualify's a sailor to go from A school to C school?

Thanks Craig, gives a better idea. Hope they can focus on studies with this luxury. LOL
