Sounds like it's going to be a pretty long deployment for the Lincoln. I hope Holly's ready for the long haul! Man it's great to see her so excited about her future.

She is correct, the Navy picks up the tab from post A to Post B, side trips are at the service members cost. However, many times if they work with the airlines they can work deals on the cost.

They are in Bremerton right now during a maintenence cycle...according to Kat looks like Jan to Mar for them to be in the open water again and doing some underways. They are not scheduled for Norfolk/Newport News until after the next deployment.

i think the carrier USS A. Lincoln is in bellingham or bremerton washington now awaiting an overhaul but it is an aircraft carrier and is on the northwest coast now according to what i have read

there will be ups and downs...trust me! It's great....maybe Holly and Kat will meet up at some point, though Kat's enlistment is up in April. It will, regarless, be an adventure for her!

Hi Admin, I Googled the ship both ways and the only thing that comes back is the USS Abraham Lincoln. She's really excited too, she was desperately praying for a carrier so I'm glad it's working out for her. We'll see how she feels about it after her first cruise ;)

She said USS Lincoln but she said it was an aircraft carrier

Kirk--- is that Lincoln as in Abe Linclon (CVN 72)? If so Holly might read some of Kat's stuff she writes for the Penny Press!

Just received some good news from Holly. She grads from A School on 9/10/09, has 14 days of leave, and then she reports to the USS Lincoln for her first duty assignment. They're sailing her from Washington, around Africa and then up to Norfolk for a three year overhaul.

Thank You all for that information. We are planning on being able to give him these things at the airport prior to leaving for A school. Hopefully he will ship out soon after graduation otherwise we will have to "mail" these things to him in Pensacola. Thanks again everyone!!
