Took a bit of time, but my son was able to get a new SO contract. As it turns out, he will ship on schedule.

If for some reason a guy drops or gets dropped from BUD/S, he will have a meeting in a few days to decide him future. Before the meeting they will pull a list of available Rates, usually between 3 and 6, that he can choose from. From what I have heard and read the Rates are not all that great and some are not all the bad. Each day the Navy has a list of open Rates, todays list probably will be different that tomorrows. It is all about the needs of the Navy.

Can anyone here tell me.... My son has a brand new contract for AIRR and a ship date in late October.  If he requests and tests to win a contract change for the SEAL Program... that would change his ship date I presume?

Also--- (God forbid) if he went to BUDS and was unable to pass it, would he then revert back to the Rescue Swimmer training pipeline, or does he lose all that when he opts for BUDS?

I understand we are in the Navy now but he has dive school in Panama City and then eod school is 42 weeks so thats why I thought someone was having a good time with him..Either way I'll hop a plane to Ft Walton and see him....just seemed a little far fetched...Thanks for the reply.

I have a question about SO and maybe some of you can help. My son is at GL right now and we knew after PIR that he would remain for an additional 3 weeks for dive/eod prep...In my sons letter today he said his classifier told him that an indoc class of one week and a 3 week common engineering class had been added. Has anyone else heard this or is his classifier jerking his chain?

He was also told that he wouldn't get leave until he completed EOD school....thats almost 16 months away.

Hey guys what link are you trying to access. I will check it, just tell me where to look. The Navy Diver Recruit about works for me but if there is another link I need to check it and get it fixed.

Thank for bringing it to our attention.
