I'd put those pens, highlighters, and sharpies in a zip-lock to keep the ink from bleeding from the heat if they leak....
Hi Kimberly, My son told me a week or so ago they were moving into an area where communication would be few and far between. The internet and phones are not on as much and, like you said, the crew is putting in very long days in very hot conditions.
As for this website, it has been a life saver for me. The MOD's on here are amazing and respond quickly to questions. I have learned a lot from them and have even made a few friends along the way who are in the same boat (pardon the pun) as I am....
hey...we were all virtually in your place at one time or another.....that's the main reason for the site....if we can help you learn the ropes, so to speak, then we have accomplished our goal!!!! Never be afraid or embarrassed to ask a question or voice your concern. you'll note that none of the NavyDads admin team has any prior Navy experience....we understand what it is like to have a son or daughter enlist and ship to Great Lakes and the fleet and not know a thing about what they are going through!!!
depends on location....many times mail is delivered during RAS (replenishment at sea) - that means the mail has to get to the supply ship first. Occasionally when in range of some sort of landing area, they will get some mail by COD, but they are limited in capacity and range-- care packages take a huge amount of space, and COD flights generally have other purposes...
today marks 10 days that i sent 2 care packages, Hopefully he gets them soon like your husband did!! Glad that they are letting them relax on clothing... I hate hearing that people are getting so hot they are passing out!! he said even the water on the ship isnt even very cold because its sea water that they process into potable water...its already hot when it gets sucked in through the ship and then it gets cooled off a little through the process but he says not by much.
