On sending packages, Fruity Pebble treats and Cocca Puff Treats are big also.

I must say i did not do any magazines. Mostly because he is studying for the E5 exam for MM. Justen is also working on air warfare. He has had his surface warfare for a year. I sent him requested items tee shirts socks and new gel insoles. With more drink mix packets. I guess he had a good time in Singapore. He went shopping and has a package to send home. He did not send any pictures. But that is normal for him. He is now working nights. It isn't as busy for him and he is studying more. We are talking about the future. He is on another looking for something permenent to do. He does not really want to stay in the Navy. I understand that, as so much sea duty is not fun when you have a family. He will have a family some day and be a DAD. Walmart is a favorite Navy supply store for sending things to our big guy.

Paul about the Crystal lite packets, we sent Evan some along with kool Aid packets. Everyone has spoke of Gatorade packets but we couldn't find any. We sent him five boxes of goodies along with things he requested. The funniest is I saw a tattoo magazine at Wal Mart and couldn't resist buying it to send.

Crystal the flat rate boxes do not have a weight limit. As much as you can cram in, the flat rate price stays the same. Did Justen enjoy Singapore? Evan had a great time and sent us pics. He has lost about thirty pounds working on the flight deck since they've been gone. He will be a rail by time they make it home. He did say that they are getting to have a BBQ and the day off on the 4th of July. We have spent many 4th of July's on the beach but I bet this will be one to remember being in the middle of the ocean. I hope everyone and their Sailor has a safe and happy 4th.

Crystal-- from experience and talking to a bunch of sailors on my Tiger Cruise-Crysal Lite makes some individual drink packets...open one, pour into a bottle of water, shake and you have a flavored drink. They were HUGE on the Roosevelt! Most pouplar food item/snack? Jerky.....hands down the fav snack......

Hey everyone,
We send Justen a Package every 2 weeks. Using lage Flat rate priority mail box...this box is the approx size of his size 15 shoe box.. It almost always is there in 3 weeks. This way no matter the weight the price is the same, about $12. I think there maybe a weight limit I have never come to close to the limit. He emails things he needs. When the box goes off , I email him so he can mark his calendar as to when to look for it. Dave and I include sugar free drink mixes for water bottles. Low calorie snacks. He is trying to loose weight, and spends alot of his free time lifting.
It is good to here their voice again. He has had a good time in port but knows how soon it ends. His emails are always funny as he settles back into ship board routine. By the way there is no such thing as a bad Dad. Each Sailor loves any and all attention they get from their parent(s). Boxes are a nice perk but email is grand. It helps them stay part of their family. My son asks about normal everyday things like the weather, swimming pool and such things. It is great to be able to keep him close at such great distance. It sure beats the snot out of snail mail. Have a good weekend.

James, now I feel like a bad dad. We have sent Evan one package and have another one on the way. I do know it took a while to get to him. The standard is about three to four weeks. He's already put in his order for his next package. It's nice to actually speak with him on the phone, now that they are running loose in Singapore.

Packages can take awhile to arrive. When I was sending stuff to my two it could take more than 2 weeks for stuff to arrive. There was one shipment to the TR that made the news....80,000 pounds of mail in one shipment. So keep the faith and keep sending stuff. Check out the Care Pakcages for our Troops group for some ideas on what to send.......
