Jack ...We use skype whenever he is in port and can get on an internet connection.  They are not out and about very much right now.  I live in New Mexico and it is a 15 hour time difference which means he call normally about 6-7pm (9-10am) in Tokyo.  Also it may take a little bit of time before he will be able to call.  He willl berth on te ship until he gets some achievements completed.

I reead about the ratings and being a son fo an aviation officer you would thiknk I knew what they were.  All I know is his rank and some of what he does.

He emailed his mother and I last week and he is doing well.

He may be one of the people on the back of the ship in the picture above landing the helo.  At least that is what he tells me he does when they are at sea.  Right now they are supposed to be around the Phillipines.  We have not spoken via skype since 9 May 2011.

No. I considered the Navy in 1978 but didn't do it.

SD is a great place to be. The Shiloh hooked up with the Carl Vinson in Manilla the other day, don't know where they are headed after that but he should pop up somewhere.

The Shiloh is back in port for a time (yesterday). He was happy to be back home. They spent a while close in to shore looking for bodies.

Jack and Ed, enjoy each trip and time together with your sons.  I had a great opportunity a little over a year ago when I was to go to Hong Kong and my son said the USS George Washington was delayed a few days from their departure from Yokosuka.  That allowed me to re-route my flight to go through Tokyo and see him at his base in Atsugi.  That was a trip I will never forget.  Some pics from that trip are on my page.  Enjoy each time you can see him at any base!  Ed, I am sure my son and yours worked together during these deliveries to Japan.  I am sure they will have many stories to share!

Welcome!! My son has been involved in the loading of the helo's. We are thankful that our military people have been able to help the Japanese, what an ordeal they must be experiencing.
