Bob T, When you are on a ship and have not cross the equator, you are called a pollywog. Once you cross the equator you earn the title Shellback. There is a ceremony on ship which is very interesting!!

Yes, my son is in IT A school in Pensacola (Corry Station or the Naval Air Technical Training Center. He arrived on 29 June but didn't class up until 7/11. He finishes on 25 November.

Paul, wow! Both on carriers! That would be my choice if I could pick a ship. I believe my son would too. I know he really wants to be stationed in Italy. Can you imagine why a 24 year old single sailor would want that?? :-)

Gary, yes I remember that as well. Much more fun to collect those that are relevant to our sailors.

Paul, I may need to get a challenge coin for the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76) in the near future :)

Daughter was on the USS Abraham Lincoln CVN-72 (Pacific Fleet) and son on the USS Theodore Roosevelt CVN-71 (Atlantic Fleet)......

I remember talking to Bill about collecting the coins that are of relevance to your Sailor. Well I have a crapload of coins I wanna get -- things and places that he's ran across or have been to (ie. cruised with USS Gary FFG-51, been to Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, docked with USS America LHA-6, given public tours on the USS San Diego LPD-22, trained on the USS Peleliu LHA-5, etc...)

In addition to this wish list, I've officially gone off the reservation with Navy coins that have no relevance to his service thus far heheh oh well!

LOL!! What ship was your sailor on and what fleet to earn Shellback? Once my son finishes A school and then is stationed and deployed, I am sure I will be back purchasing more!
