Took a trip to Pensacola December 28th to January 1st to see Ryan for the holidays. About a week left till A school graduation then to continue C school there. We had a great trip to the National Naval Museum while I was there. Stayed at the Navy Lodge and again was very impressed as this was my first stay here, but also stayed at the Navy Lodge in Great Lakes. Happy New Year to all!!!
Hi Guys, good to hear things are well with your sailors and best wishes for a blessed Christmas for all of your families! More hunting this week (OH deer gun season), an 8 pt. in the freezer so far. 1st season James has missed since he was 12 but kept him abreast via txt. He's winding down A school and will be home for Christmas (a special surprise for our daughter-in-law who graduates from tech school today). Looking forward to some venison tenderloins on the grill as well. Still awaiting orders, thought he'd receive them a week ago. He wish-listed WA, Hawaii, VA and Italy but we'll see where he ends up getting posted. All would be good excuses for a visit. Merry Christmas and very best wishes for a bountiful new year! Pray for the family of the SR who passed at Great Lakes this week. Very, very sad.
Sorry I have been a way for a bit. Started a new job. Melissa was able to come down for Thanksgiving weekend. So we got to spend some time together.....She got her orders......Will be making a small stop after Christmas Break for C School. Then off to her first deployment.
Hey James, how is Melissa doing? Did you get a chance to visit her?
Hope all is well with you and yours!
Good to hear of your hunting trip Rick. Being from Indiana, I miss hunting, especially this time of year. I am planning another trip to Pensacola since Ryan doesn't want to use his leave time. Neither of his sisters are coming home for the holidays, so he is going to wait and see what his orders will be in a couple of weeks. If we don't talk before, have a wonderful Christmas!
PS - James, did you get over to see Melissa yet?
Hi Guys,
Been away from the computer for several weeks. 1 mule deer & 1 bull elk in the group from NM hunt. Texting pix & info to James while there, no phone service in the mtns. but txt worked (kinda). He was exceedingly jealous, he's my lone hunter of the 3 boys. Great to hear you made it over to NAS Pensacola Donald. The girls had a good visit last month but didn't get any info the watering holes, just sushi & seafood joints. Will keep those in mind if James hangs on for C school & we make a winter visit to see him. He finished ATT a couple of weeks ago & moving over to Corry Station and new barracks tomorrow to start next / more intensive phase of the training. Has been bored w/ barracks duty since finishing ATT.
Went to Pensacola for the weekend to visit my son, had a great time. Peg Leg Pete's, McGuire's, and Tin Cow are definitely worth checking out. I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express, and was very satisfied. Great free breakfast, and very close to base.
Got my picture of Ryan's division today, still waiting on the dvd of PIR.
Thanks James, I will check them out. I think I will try going up mid October to celebrate Ryan's big three o. And I agree Rick, I stayed at the Navy Lodge in Great Lakes. Nice room for $65 a night. Just try to get there before 4am like I did thanks to flight delays. And then had to get up at 6am for PIR. It was well worth it!
