Hey Rick and James, glad to here the updates with our sailors. Ryan is also CTR and anxious to get started. I looked at flights to Pensacola and they are more expensive than the flight to Chicago! But and 8 hour drive... yuk!
Well in the case of my daughter she is going into CTR which is more of a collection and analysis of information. I agree it is a small group. I am sure there are others out there, they just have not found us yet. I mentioned she called the other night....had a good long hour conversation. She kind of filled us in on the daily grind....She is getting used to it and actually enjoys it.....We are trying to plan out a quick trip to go and see her, we were waiting till she had a little more freedom as they say before heading up.
Hi Guys,
Strong suggestion; don't hit the 'next page' button below if you want to save anything that you've already put into comments. I just typed about 3-4 paragraph response to Donald's checking in on me an James. Went to page 2 of the thread to find James M's daughter's name (Melissa) and it wiped out 20 minutes of info. that I had typed.
As best as I can recreate, my James is doing well from what little we've been hearing from him. He's too busy having fun w/ his 'buds' & studying to call us much. He calls his wife daily so we do get info from her. She, her mom & sister's were over for bbq & fire pit last night & we were grousing about his lack of contact lately (after numerous recent edible care packages from mom). Lo & behold we got a call today, I think James may have got a dressing down from his significant other. I've been busy w/ hunting (some OH seasons opened last week) & getting a '57 Bel Air running so have been away from the computer & keeping pace w/ CT forum lately.
James is carrying about a 90 in ATT (apprentice technical training, 2 mo., which all the CTs do) so far, which is what one needs to qualify for C school. He is leaning C school still if he qualifies which means 12 more mo. of training and a 6 yr. active / 10 yr. reserve commitment. Lisa (my wife) & Sami (his wife) are going down to Pensacola in 2 weeks for a visit.
James, I think that all the ATT training is night / evening school. They get PT after classes 3 nights / week and he is usually pretty well pooped those nights. After 2 mo. of ATT they move into their specialties which are day classes. I think the Navy does this to acclimate them to the rotational 24 hr. nature of their regular duty.
Donald, sorry to hear that Ryan has no word on classing up yet but he'll be thrilled w/ ph. 2. Means he's doing his job & keeping his nose clean.
Did I ever ask what area's you guys' kids are going into? My James is maintenance, I think I mentioned. And there are only 3 of us using the forum out of the 5 members (think we're the smallest group on Navy dads). Anybody ever hear from the other 2?
Hey Rick hope all is well on your end. How is James doing in his training?
Ryan starts phase 2 on Monday, still no word on classes.
Funny you asked. She called me last night during her dinner hour. She is in the night courses. So far so good....she is enjoying it...she is far along enough in the phases now she can leave base and wear civilian clothes at times.....LOL...She is looking forward to the whole process..
James, How did her first week in class go?
talked to her yesterday. Technically the class starts tonight....she is happy......
latest not lastest
Lastest word is one more week to class up. Three day weekend was appreciated.
