Also, this was probably one of the primary reasons she had me drive her car down to her in Pensacola. It was a nice drive down from Massachusetts.

Oh yeah, it's a long haul to the nice public beaches. My sailor used to complain about the same. She used to try to get a couple of friends to go, plan it out ahead of time.

Hi guys, I just saw this group.  Son Garrett is an instructor for all who initially come in from Great Lakes.  Their first class is his!  He just got back after going out to San Diego as we all went out to welcome his sister (1st Lt. in the Marines) back from her most recent deployment from the south Pacific.

you have to remember something: boot camp is 8 weeks, PR A-school is 12-weeks.  If PIR was at the beginning of a training cycle a sailor may have wait for the cycle to complete before they start another class.  Also, they may have to wait for class rosters to fill up......it can take awhile

James, I sent my son's Sony PlayStation and flat screen along with the controllers and his games when he was in ABH A School as he requested. And yes your son will know his schedules once he starts school. My son was delayed as well it's fairly common.

RSS, I think is Rescue Swimmer and is very tough physically. It all depends on what his ASVAB scores were and what he can qualify for along with what is available. Lots of DOR's so this is not new to them. If his scores are high enough I would suggest trying for CT, especially CTN...tough school but they are supposedly adding 600 new CTN's this year and the school is in Pensacola at Corry Field...just a thought. Good Luck to you and your Son...the Navy really tries to keep as many as they can once they get thru Boot.
