Failing the Advancement Exam...

Enlisted advancement exams are not pass/fail, but it is possible to fail the exam if you don't answer enough questions correctly. The exam is designed to measure rating knowledge at the next-higher paygrade. Sailors who fail the exam are not eligbile for advancement. The exam is one element of the Final Multiple Score. (N32)

What number of questions answered wrong will result in failing an exam?

To pass the advancement exam, you will need to have a raw score (number of correctly answered questions) of at least 49 for E4, 55 for E5 and 61 for E6 and E7. Currently, all enlisted advancement exams have 175 questions.
