Welcome Aboard!

My name is E.G. and I have three sons and a beautiful daughter. I also have the most amazing wife, Cindy. Our oldest son "Evan" served as an ABE aboard the USS Ronald Reagan in San Diego, Ca and my family and I couldn't have been prouder.

My Navy Dads journey began when my son enlisted in April, 2008. I started building NavyDads.Com while he was still a recruit at RTC in Great lakes. I designed, built, and launched NavyDads.com June 18, 2008, two days before his Navy graduation.

My hope is that this site will help Navy Families find answers to questions, share concerns, help another along, and lastly, a place to show their pride for their Sailor.

Thank You--For your help--at present they are still dating--but he tells us and GF that he loves only her--and wants to marry her. She says--no she is too young---My opinion--she won't be able to handle the loneliness when he's away...and will find someone else. I agree with you--what's meant to be will be---but I see my son's heart get broke---He is not even getting good friends with girls in the Navy. I wish he would..lol

Thank you for starting this site. I have been reading and learning so much for the past couple of weeks here. I am one of those guys that look through the window but never comes in. However, my son left for boot camp on Dec. 2nd and I felt compelled to join. His mother and I have known for a long time this day would come as he joined the DEP program back in April. But it is still hard. Thanks again.

If you want to look for Bambi's big granddad- head out west sometime! Of course you'll have to bone up on your 250-350 yard shots.......

...a day wandering around in the woods with your boy looking for deer....I think the hunter won after all!

Mr. E.G. ~ First of all, let me tell you, you've got a good kid. Thanks. Quick question for you. Michele asked me to put a link on the site to the article on the blue candle. Help! I don't know how you do that. Do you?
  • NavyDads Admin (Paul)

didn't realize she asked...I've done on so Cindy's page!
  • Cindy

LOL No worries. I don't know that Morgan would've said anything other than "no". He's never been one to make waves. Marines...their tude worries me a little. I've been reading comments left on the Camp Pendleton Moms group. Most of the comments have not been on the positive side regarding the Marines tudes towards the Corpsman...unless they need their 'doc'. Good thing Morgan has a couple of Marine friends already! However, one's being deployed on the 9th. Tell that wife of yours I said hello.

    EG,
Thank you for the welcome! I am grateful this site is not restricted for the use of dads alone. I first looked at this site the other day and was surprised to see that it was open to the entire Navy and Marine family. So, thank you for opening your hearts and support to the Navy moms. The N4M's is a wonderful group to be a part of and I know this site will be too.
    Thanks again!!!

    EG,
Thank you for the message regarding this member. I have not had any contact with the member.
Billy is doing well in his schooling at Great Lakes and looking forward to leaving there for a warmer climate. He is hoping for a C-School in San Diego. I hope your son Evan is also doing well and enjoying his Navy career thus far.
    Take Care,
    Paige

Hey there EG, hope all is well. EG my son is going to be leaving for Boot Camp on 2/18/09. He gets picked up on the 17th abd I believe does the swearing in on the 18th. Question, is Boot Camp 6 weeks or 8? Luis
  • Jamie Daniels

Thank you. I heard of navymoms too and found your site. I was in the Navy Years ago and so much has changed. It's nice to know there's a place to go to get info and chat with people in the same situation.
  • Bob

EG, about your comment concerning delay's at A school, Thank You, your comment was very imformative. My son agrees the beach is nice, he jogs a couple of times a week, but he's never been to Coronado!
  • Bob

Yes the seals, while strolling down the beach we had several seals run past us (extremely polite men) when we had the privilege of being reprimanded by the MP's for wandering into seal territory, after talking to them for a few minutes they strongly suggested my wife and i continue our sand dollar hunting in the opposite direction, and your right a young man could find themselves getting very comfortable.
  • Michele

Thank you very much EG . . . she is very adorable. I can't wait to hold her and kiss her and all that good stuff !!
  • Bill Dean

Thanks for your warm welcome. My wife, Teresa has been on navyformoms since our son joined almost two years ago. Tomorrow my daughter Giovanni starts her journey in the Navy by shipping off to Great Lakes for boot camp. I figured it was time for me to look for an outlet for my feelings. I am so proud of my son and daughter for their dedication to serve their country!

Thank you for this great site! We actually found it before Alex left for Bootcamp, and he told me to go here if I had questions. I have checked out a lot of the videos and read a lot of really helpful comments. He has only been gone since Jan 6 but we miss him so much. Reading this website has really helped...even if I cry with pride for all the young men and women...and the moms and dads too!
    Thanks for the news here!!
  • NavyDads Admin (Paul)

Kat called and told me the Nimitz came in to pick up the Lincoln's airwing for check cruise.....

for a day The Lincoln, the Reagan, and the Nimitz were moored next to each other...THAT musta been a sight to behold!
  • NavyDads Admin (Paul)

Kat said they have been working regular shop hours...on top of that they sent 6 of the writers to the base media faciltiy leaving Kat and 2 others to handle all the writing for the paper....she's been pretty busy as a result but finally went to medical and got a shot....
  • Tony

Thanks for creating this site. My wife was showing me Navy for Moms so I googled Navy for Dads and found you. While Navy for Moms is informational I did not see many dads on the site.

My bad, and I know it - I was trained not to reveal names (and a whole bunch else) - I am just so curious about SWCC.

  • Mark E. Stehle

Thank you! A quick question, my son was given a list of items to take to Navy Boot Camp ...shaving cream, razor, deodorant, and things like that. He was also told that he would have to mail back all of his clothing. He is in his second week of Boot Camp, and we got all of his clothing two days ago, but we got the razor, shaving cream and other toiletries as well. Do they have to buy all of that again at Boot Camp? Also, do you have any idea of when he might get to write, and when we will get his address and the information about his graduation. I'd like to make flight reservations as soon as possible to save money. Thanks for your help. Mark

It is great to have a site to share our experience. James is another sailor waiting to class up. I know that it is frustrating guarding broomclosets and laundry room, but it needs to be done. We try to support him and keep him focused.
  • jack powell

Thanks for the response. After 19 years I don't have many questions about his service just nice to share with others.
