Welcome Aboard!
My name is E.G. and I have three sons and a beautiful daughter. I also have the most amazing wife, Cindy. Our oldest son "Evan" served as an ABE aboard the USS Ronald Reagan in San Diego, Ca and my family and I couldn't have been prouder.
My Navy Dads journey began when my son enlisted in April, 2008. I started building NavyDads.Com while he was still a recruit at RTC in Great lakes. I designed, built, and launched NavyDads.com June 18, 2008, two days before his Navy graduation.
My hope is that this site will help Navy Families find answers to questions, share concerns, help another along, and lastly, a place to show their pride for their Sailor.

What Were Your Feelings When Your Sailor Joined The Navy:
thanks that is where they told us her a school will be. but they told her there is a great demand for yeoman and she is most likly to have her choice in bases. thanks for your speedy answer keith
Thank you for the kind words. 7 years ago when my son, Air Force SSG Daniel Peveto, left for boot camp I had so many mixed feelings. Pride, fear and sadness were the top three. But Anna and I have been so close, I have coached her in softball for the past 15 years, that I can't hardley breath thinking about her leaving to go so far. I know that I will be just as proud of her as I am of my son. Thank goodness that my wife and I have a good Church family to help us get through this. This site will also be a treasure to us.
well i droped her at the recruiter this eve. that was pretty hard. she will swear in in the morning then off to boot camp. gonna be a big part of me missing for a while. but i know it will be best for her. she is the bravest person i know heading into the unknown with out any one she is used to supporting her. the pride is overwhelming. im also a little scared not knowing my self what to expect its my baby girl. i know we will still suport her but not being there is hard for me shes my only daughter. well thats enough winning for a while. thanks for this site. proud dad keith
Thanks E.G for creating this site. It's great to be able to have a place to ask questions and be able to talk with other Navy Dads. We are so proud of our son Alex. He is just starting ATT in Great Lakes and anxious to start A School. This is a great site to watch the progress of all our Sailors.
Thanks E.G. for taking the time and effort in creating such a useful communication tool. My son is in buds class 284 and it will be fun to communicate with other fathers from his class. I myself completed 22 years of Naval Service and never in my years of service was this type of tool available for all to utilize. Thanks again!
I greatly appreciate the welcome. I am happy to help any way I can. My son is an AO on the USS Harry S Truman CVN75 and my daughter wants to fly helicopters. Both of my kids are thinking they are going to make a career out of the Navy. I believe I will be a part of Navy for Dads for a long time.
E.G..... There is nothing better that tracking sailors in bootcamp with other familiy members.
My two websites are: http://www.NavyDep.com I made this site to help young depper and Sailors in their 1st years of their careers with their questions.
and http://www.NavyFamilies.com I rename the orginal name from www.Navy-Parents.com to www.NavyFamilies.com to reflect that the site
isn't just for moms or Dads, its for everyone.
I too will add www.NavyDads.com to my recommended websites.

I think I can speak for everyone that this is a great site for all of us. Thank you for the initiative and I'm sure long hours for setting this up. Behind the scenes there is a tremendous amount of work that you do that allows to simply get on and enjoy the site.
Thank you very much from a veteran also father to another. Very glad to be apart of this organization and to share with other dads. I may not be to familiar to Navy life but i am aware that in each branch it is all the same. I educationed my daughter before she went off to recruit training at Lake Misery, that help her but being away from family is something we all endure. Now shes in japan and as a AO 3rd class she boards a USS carrier and has been at sea, is at sea this time and well she is serving in the Navy and very proud to be a AO. Once again thanks an look forward to many years on this site.
Thanks, E.G. I know that I gain so much peace of mind just by reading what other parents/family members have experienced or heard from their sailor. My son is great at keeping in touch, but there are times when he is so busy he doesn't get a chance to write/call. Thank you for starting this site.
Thank you for the warm welcome E.G. I am always looking for sites to get info on the Navy. My family was not familiar with the Military at all until our son decided to join the Navy so I immediately started searching the internet for info and found N4Ms just a few weeks before he left for boot camp. It was so nice to be in touch with other moms who going thru the hard times of letting go. Wyatt has been in the Navy now for 2 years and I am still learning but its also great to share with others who are just going thru the bootcamp and A school days on what to expect and what helped me to get thru the days. I am very glad to have found N4Ds. It's great to be here.

Thanks for the warm welcome, E.G. We are very excited to experience the PIR this Friday and join so many other Navy families in proudly saluting our young men and women in the U.S. Navy. Thank you for starting the site - and for reaching out to me as a new Navy Dad! God Bless America and those who serve her in our armed forces!
Thank you for the warm welcome! It really means a lot to me. I'm glad to have stumbled upon this website; thank you for creating this wonderful and informative forum. I definitely look forward to becoming a part of this community. :D

Thanks for having the site. I noticed there aren't any submariner groups.
Dave left today on his deployment, and he couldn't tell us any details about his boat's mission. Everything they're doing seems to be secret. Any other submarine Dads out there?
E.G.
Thanks for having me, I am a very proud Dad of my Cole. I just received his letter about his PIR just seeing his handwriting for me put me at ease. Is there any place that might be taking photos of the SR while in bootcamp?
Thanks
Joe
Thanks for the welcome and good wishes for my son. I am so dam proud of him.
He is following a great Navy tradition in our family. My father joined the Navy at 17 in 1942 and was assigned to a small Patrol Craft on the North Atlantic chasing U Boats. His crew received new orders in the spring of 44 Operation Overlord. On June 6 1944 my fathers PC led one of the assaults at Omaha Beach.Evans maternal grandfather enlisted in 1941 right after Pearl Harbor. He rose to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. As for me the thorn between two roses I became a police officer ready to retire. GO NAVY
You created a wonderful site. I know my sister and brother-in-law have loved sharing info, and of course, always great to keep up with Garrett. Thanks!
Thank you for the welcome, I'm glad I found a sit to talk to real people going through the same thing I am. however I am not a navy dad. I'm a navy girlfriend. My boyfriend left for bootcamp last monday & its driving me crazy.I can't wait till its over! How to deal with this ?
And also, thanks to your sons as well as my boyfriend for serving for us. <3
E.G thanks for the welcome, the site has answered many questions so far! PIR is next week and were really looking forward to it. That story your friend tells is probably what would have happened to me as well, my friend went in the medical area and I would have gone aviation. Thanks again, Dave
My son went to a high School that had an N.J.R.O.T.C. he had wanted to be a Navy Seal However the one instructor was a retired Commander in the Navy The other instructor was a retired Marine The Commander did not impress my son at all in appearance or mannerisms's The Marine on the other hand was slim and trim always dressed profesionally and was well mannered When my son came home from school that first day he told me he WAS going to be a Marine Then Sept 11 came and that even made him more determined He graduated from Parris Island on Sept 12th 2003
hey E.G. my son is in boot ship 7 div 351 he was change from AME to Master at arms what is master at arms? can you help? thanks Greg Buck father to Josh Buck
There is lots of dads that come over to moms. They say they cant find anyone to chat with here. I always tell them about here. You gues have good info here too.
Thanks for the welcome
My son just started boot. His mother bought him a new watch to take with him. It's the kind that spec. ops usally use ( trying out for seals), but they made him send it back home in the box. Any reason as to why?
Thanks for the info. Also thank-you for taking the time and effort to set this site up. I don't know what I would have done with out it. If there is anything that I can do to help out please let me know. HOOYAH GO NAVY!
Thank you for yor support. I do have alot of questions and would welcome any help at this time. I have heard alot of wonderful things about your website.
Thanks for the welcome and for setting up this site, the info is truly helpful in getting a feel for what Austin is experiencing in boot camp. Nice Job!!!
Thank you so much for the nice welcome and for creating such an informative and well built site. I am sure Sandy and I will have many questions and we will always know we have a group of great people to turn to!
Thank you very much for your quick response and support. I now know what it is like on the other side of the fence. I attended Navy boot camp back in 1986. I can honestly say that it is worse feeling being a parent watching your son/daughter go away to boot camp than it was for me to attend. I worry about my daughter constently. I know she is in good hands, but I just cannot help but to worry about her. She is an extremely bright kid, but very sheltered. This will be a great experience for her. I will be excited for her boot camp graduation.
The response to this was great. I never expected to have a welcome like this. My son Wyatt is still in the very early stages of entering the Navy. He will go to his physical test and final enlistment next month. He hopes to be headed to bootcamp right after his high school graduation. Im am very proud of him. He was looking at going to the Coast Guard for the last couple of years. One of his football team mates enlisted in the Navy last year and came home a month ago and told Wyatt what he had seen and done. That was it for him, the Navy was his choice. He is very intrested in the SWCC or a Master at Arms. I think he is wanting to follow in the Law Enforcement area after the Navy. We will see.
Thank you all for the warm welcoming....I'm sure I will be posting questions in the future but as of right now, I've come to the conclusion that i need to just be patient and wait to hear from him. One thing I did want to ask.....Is there a limit as to how many people may attend his graduation?
