Grandpa, thanks for the welcome note. Kyle left for boot camp Aug. 3 and we look forward to getting a letter from him again. I actually don't mind checking the mail now that there might be something besides bills in the box.

  • Roy B

Thanks, I too have no military experence and learning all the rules, experences of others is a great help.

  • Douglas Fraser

Thank you for the welcome.  Found this site a little late in the boot camp experience but am sure it will be most informative.   Our son is almost finished and has PIR of 9/9/11.  Know that battlestations dates can't be published but is there any way to find out his division's date?  His last letter did not contain the specific date. Thanks for any assistance/advice.

  • Ron Schultz

Thank for the welcome. My son has been in the Navy for 3 years.  He is on the USS George H.W. Bush.  I did not know about this site.

  • Steven Evilsizor

    Thanks for the welcome,

Byron left on Aug 11th so in his 3rd week of camp and sounds like he is doing well.  Waiting for his next letter.

       Thanks,

        Steve

Just want to check in with you and thank you for the great words about the Indianapolis packing party.  It's so great to meet other families.  We will be down in Austin, but not until next year when both of my niece's sons get married (yes, 2 trips in one year.)  We;ll make it vacation in June, and fast flight in September.

I'm very excited for Sam's upcoming graduation on 9/23.  This site has  been a good source of information on what to expect.

Thanks for the welcome. My son just arrived at bootcamp last week. I'm already anxious to hear from him again. I hope the 8 weeks go by fast for him and for my wife and me.
  • John Chalus

Glad to be here. As a former SEAL and the father of a former SEAL I thought I might be able to give some insight into BUDS and the teams.

  • John Chalus

Yes that would be a much better description.

  • Joshua A Smith

He just graduated boot last friday. Not sure what he is doing just yet. Thank you

  • NukeDad

  • Matthew Reed

    Thanks!

  • Mother Always

Thank you, is very nice being here.

I entered this page because of my son. He always wanted to enter the military, since his teens, finished high school and he already signed with the Navy. He likes and enjoys his job. He is in his 1st "long deployment".

Thank you again, have a nice evening!!

  • John Caporal

Just a quick update to let you know that Sam graduated from boot camp last weekend and is now in training at Goose Creek, SC!  We had a great time together while he was on liberty last Saturday.  Sam especially enjoyed eating out.

  • John Caporal

I'm in upstate NY, but I'll find a way to visit him.  If he gets to Nuclear Prototype School, he could be stationed at Balston Spa, NY, only about 2 hours from my home.

  • James

Sir I'm trying to find a mentor for participating in this website
  • WandaG (Ship02/Div 901)

Thanks grandpa273.  I have been a participant of the Navyformoms before my daughter left for bootcamp. It has been a wealth of information and a very supportive group. I didn't realize until a couple of days ago that there was a site for the dads. I think it's great. Thank you again for welcoming me!

So far I've received her box and her 1st letter. She sounds good. She is in the choir 901 Division. Her rate is IC. She will be attending A School at Great Lakes.

  • WandaG (Ship02/Div 901)

    Thank you grandpa273, I will!

  • Paula Jones

Thanks grandpa273 for the warm welcome...I've been a member of N4M's since Sept '10... And knew about ya'll's site from my husband as he is a member, but didn't want to step on any toes being a mom and all. But have been lurking a little bit and have seen other ladies posting so I thought I'd like to join with you guys!!! Am a big believer in knowledge is power...and the more the better! Currently, my dtr is in SERE out in SD...she will come back to JAX for her C school...don't really know much about that so will be hoping to meet up with any dads whose sons or daughters are in or have graduated that program and r serving in the fleet(AWF). She also just got engaged last weekend to her rescue swimmer boy friend...he is in the middle of his last school in the rescue swimmer pipeline, so am also following for his sake as well...so looking forward to being a part...thank you again!

Hello and thank you for your reply I appreciate it. My son is in boot camp right now  and I hope he is doing well. Only week 2 so we have not heard from him and I suppose we will not for a while. I have a cousin in BUD's at this time and believe he started in July but have no information on his class number but any information would be great. I talked to his grandfather a week or so ago he also has no information. I wish both of these young men the best of luck.

Thanks grandpa.  I joined mainly for the emotional support.  The rest I know.  I was a submariner for 8 years.  Just not enjoying this hole in my heart that my boy is gone.  :)  thanks again for the support.

  • James "Mark" Womack

THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH FOR THAT INFORMATION!

You have made one happy dad!

  • William Blayney

Hello Grandpa, thanks for the welcome. My son is expected to graduate from bootcamp in January. Don't know if you would have the answer, but I live in a Chicago suburb and Thankgiving is approaching. Do you know if they give holiday liberties to recruits who's parents are local?

  • Christopher Thomas

Thank you for the warm welcomes and all the information I plan on taking a look at all the site has to offer, because one I'd just like to know more about what my girlfriend will be doing now that she is in! and Two I plan on enlisting really soon within the next year so I'd just like to keep reading about things so I know what to expect when I go in!

    Calvin,

Sorry I hadn't got back to you sooner.  Been busy preparing for my son to come home for Christmas for the first time in 3 years due to being stationed in Japan.  Let me know what I can do for your Rescue Swimmer project.

  • Elizabeth

Hi Calvin, I signed on as Rialto, but then I thought I would change it to part of my name to be more personal – so I am Elizabeth now. Thank you so much for the welcome! This is such a great community and resource for learning about the Navy and the military (I know almost nothing as I am just starting out!). Thank you for helping to build this site, I’m glad I get to be part of it.

  • Ric Frost

    Thanks Calvin,

I was not aware of this community and have been a Navy Dad for 10 years since my son joined right out of high school. I don't know if you or the group ever would have use for my skills, but I do have a very good HD camera and editing studio for video production. If there is ever a project that you could use my help with, do not hesitate to contact me.

Merry Christmas everyone and may God bless and watch over all of you and our families.

    Ric

I appreciate your message and comments.  My son is a member of the P3 community and is currently an instructor pilot with VP30 in Jacksonville. While I am new to your site I have a few years in now as a Proud Navy Dad!  My Aaron went to school at NC State on an ROTC Scholarship and graduated in 2003 then reporting to Flight school as a young O1.  Since then he is now an O3, Iraq war veteran from VP45, and finishing in a few months his tour in Jacksonville.  I was searching for information on carriers (his next assignment) when I found your site.  How I wish your site was around back then!  Anyway I am very excited about NAVY DADS and looking forward to learning more about what our sons and daughters do in their service to our great country.  I did find a page on your site with the carrier Aaron will be serving on!

    Respectfully, James

  • Charmaine Bull

You have a pretty scared family right now. Fox news said that a sailor died there and we are very worried. My daughter is leaving for Josh's graduation at 6 in the morning and is going as a very worried Mom. Grandma isn't doing so good either.

  • Debbie (Sarah's mom)

Thank You Calvin.  I will be checking out this site often to learn as much as I can.

  • ZachsDad ship 03/div 089

Thank you!  I'm reading as much as I can now that I found this site and N4Ms.  Appreciate the welcome.  BTW, Zach leaves for GL this coming Wednesday, the 18th.  He's excited!

  • Bob morrell
