Tim,
Thanks for the interest. Actually I am going to pick Corinne up from the airport Monday night. She will be with us for 10 days, befor she goes back south to get ready for her deployment in Sept. She is looking forward to that, with the exception of the 2 weeks on water to get there.. :) She has been cranking for quite some time now, but will be all finished with that on Monday. She was fortunate enough to get to serve in the Chiefs galley. She enjoyed that part, and got to know them pretty well also. That can't hurt.. :) As for her rate, she hasn't said a lot about that lately.. I think because she is cranking and that seems to take a lot of her time. She has told me several times that she is glad that she chose the path that she has. The Navy has already done so much for her self asteam and confidence. She has made new friends and already experienced things that she would have never experienced had it not been for the Navy. She does have her bad days, when she doesn't much like it,for example, when she doesn't get much sleep.. :) But all in all, she enjoys it. Says it's always something different and educational. Always things to learn. She is excited about coming home and seeing everyone. Some of her classmates and former co-workers have been asking for months as to when she is coming home.. so she is gonna be very busy trying to see them all. One of her teachers, lives in Florida during the summer, and was able to come to the ship Corinne was able to give him a tour. It was really a special time, because he was having second thoughts about weather he was making a difference as a teacher. Corinne pretty much told him that, if it had not been for him and his teaching of values and ethics and pride in yourself, that she might not be where she is today. He was her auto-tech teacher.
It was only a year ago this month that I took Corinne to the meps station and seen her off to Great Lakes. It's funny how a year can change a person, and take them from a teena
Tim, thanks for the welcome and great info this site offers! My son is an Ensign who left on his 1st deployment 5/20/11 on the USS Ramage. He was to return late Dec but his deployment has been unofficially extended 38 days :(. Miss him so much and hate that he won't be home for Christmas but the most important thing is that he stay safe and focused! Blessings, Chrisy
Thank you Sir for your comnets an guidance as my family and I will be needing the advise of other parents and friends as our son makes his journey into Navy life. In addition quess one could say as well the parents journey into Navy life.
Thanks for the welcome. As an AF Aux. capt., I'm looking forward to some spirited inter-service discussions with my sailor..... It's great to know I have so many navy familys out there to draw on their experiences whenever I have questions as my daughter in law advances through the ranks. My thanks to your son's for their service to our nation!
Thank you for the welcome. I am sure I will find comfort in this site just like I do N4M's. My son is currently on the USS Port Royal and they are out on deployment as well, and is his and my first too. I had a really hard time getting use to not talking to him and him being so far away. He was stationed in WV for his first 2 yrs and he was only 5 hours away from us and came home a lot on the weekends. So it was hard for me for him to go Hawaii as well. But I am okay now and getting use to things. Thank you again.
Thank very much for the welcome and for the information on how to navigate through this wonderful and helpful site. our best regards to you and family. I will make sure I pass on the massage to Amanda. Thank you to you as well and to all servicemen and women for their work to God and Country.
thanks for the welcome. this is a great site, you gents are doing a wonderful service, and I hope that in addition to getting help , I might be able to lend some also.
Thanks for the welcome aboard !!! I've been kinda busy and have not had alot of time to fumble around in the site but what i have found has been very informative. again thanks for the welcome !
Tim - Thanks for the mail and kind words. Lots of info here to absorb and get myself acquainted with. Today is day 1 for all of us, we're excited, very proud, a little nervous and all those feelings I'm sure everyone else has had before us. Thanks for all that you do and making people like myself feel welcome.
Thank you for your guidance! I have been a guest on the site for several months while Sean has been training for his PST. With him scoring close to "Optimal" on all of the elements today, I figured it was time for me to take the next step as well.
I will read through the information you pointed me to and let you know if I have any questions.
Thanks for the welcome, Tim. My son is the first in our family to join the military, so we have a lot to learn. We're fully supportive of his decision, but are a little apprehensive as he prepares to leave for Great Lakes in just a couple days.
As hard as it was to see James leave we know he is in good hands and is on his way to an exciting career, a good friend was in the Navy for 27 years and says it was the best thing he ever did!
Thank you, Tim for the information. I just heard from Tyler on Sunday and he is ill. I'm not sure what is going on as I dont have access to his medical records. Thy thought he had a nerve disorder but now I guess its much more serious than that. He said there sending him home. Its been a long 3 months of not knowing anything.
Thanks Tim. We'll Spencer DIV 945 Ship 2 All graduated! The did very well indeed. Commanders Cup. I did not speak to him. He got the one hour phone call. 55 minutes for girl friend, 5 minutes for mom. Isn't that how it should go though. I'm just amazed and so very proud. Words can not describe. Most of my friends are military or retired military. One of my very best friends is a retired COB on a Boomer. This is a great day. Thanks for all the support. One question...how come the "Navy4Moms" link and about a dozen other "Moms" sites are listed and linked on the Navy website, but not the Navy Dads? Perhaps I just missed it.
Tim, thank you for all the information I feel
this will help me to understand more about
navy protocol and how other people deal
with their loved ones and friends. Being away
serving our great country.

Hi Tim, thanks for the comment. I wish I could figure out how to comment back to several people at once. :) I see you are from Shawnee. That's where I was born and I worked there also for a year at the OGE facility on the south side of town. I was a reliability engineer for them for a year before I went back to a larger company. I live in Wylie TX now but grew up in OK and went to OSU. I am mainly here for the emotional support, as this is affecting me more than I thought. I only have one boy and Mom and I really wanted him to swim in college. We're proud he's serving, but tried to talk him out of the sub route since I did it for 8 years. I think they're the best at what they do, but fresh milk and vegetables are nice also. So is seeing the sun and feeling the wind. :) Thanks for the welcome and take care.
Thanks for posting the additional information about the Navy Dads website. I plan to look around in it more as time permits.
It's hard to believe my youngster is coming up on three years in the Navy (Feb). We recently had him home from Mayport for two weeks of post-deployment leave. It went by way too fast!
My son is assigned to the USS Boone (FFG-28); so the picture in the background looks very familiar. They're taking her up the east coast to NY this month. This is the Boone's last trip; prior to a planned decom in February of next year.
Thank you for the warm welcome, I am sure as I explore and search I will have questions and will be able to more directly make use of this extensive resource!
Thank alot, My Sons best friend just left for boot camp last week. To great Lakes. james will be leaving soon he got delayed because of an eye exam. He has 20-20 in one eye and 20-40 in the other. I could tell he was really bummed out over this. But he's a trooper he picked himself up pretty quick. Just playing the waiting game know. Does anyone have any information how The Navy will handle this situation? He also has a cousin that just re-enlisted. I think that may of swayed his way of thinking that he may want to make a career in the navy. Thank you for taking the time to drop me a note and I'll definately check into the group discussions. I want to sit down first and talk with him first, hes been really busy lately as well as me.Thanks again!
Wasn't quite finished. I'll tell James that you said thank you for him enlisting to defend our freedom. I can already tell you what he's going to say, to tell you Thank you and that it meant alot. Take care Tim and thanks again.
Thanks for the info. Don't know exactly what to ask. My son just shipped to Afghanistan. Did not know that he would be in army uniform with navy rank in charge of army personnel. He jokes he is Narmy. Guess my wife and I are just looking for support from others in same situation.
Good to be aboard, Josh is currently in Boot Camp, Ship 11 Div. 062, PIR: 10 Feb 2012. Although no guaranties, if all goes well, he intends to be a Fire Controlman on a submarine. We're getting letters from him on a fairly regular basis and all sounds well (with the exception of some dental work). Even said he likes it a bit. We've been checking out the PIR group looking for tips on attending in Feb. Very informative site.
I found the links you described as I joined and started surfing around the site. Thanks for the welcome and looking forward to the next few years of exchanges.
Thank you, Tim. I appreciated your message and it's good to know that there is a group like this. I am Navy new without any military bearing. Madison is the first in our family to serve and we couldn't be prouder of her. I remember the day that she called me and told me that she had a calling and it was to serve her country and save lives. She was in her sophmore year of college and she was determined to follow her calling - HM Hospital Corpsman with a desire for Nursing. I am very proud of her and can't wait to see her at GL in several weeks. Again, thank you for reaching out. Go Navy!
Thank you, Tim. I appreciated your message and it's good to know that there is a group like this. Yes, we are proud of our son for stepping up and defending our freedom.
Thanks Tim.Was glad to get such a warm quick response.I've been reading and looking at this sight since just before my son DEP.Is very informative and sounds like a great bunch of people. Am proud of my son and all the other sons and daughters who step up for their country.
