Thanks Tim for the welcome.  Being Air Force myself for ten years has been a big help for dealing with Daniels Enlistment, but there's still so much information about the Navy I need to find out, that's for sure.  The one thing I have found since he enlisted is that I sure miss the companionship/Camaraderie  of the Military family.  It is truly unique.  That's why I'm glad I found this site........ looking forward to sharing with all the pride of being a Navy Dad.

Cool, alot of military history there.  We're from California, came to Enid (Vance AFB) by way of Anchorage Alaska (Elmendorf AFB).  When it came time to get out we decided we liked Oklahoma, and adopted it as home.  It's been a good place to raise the kids.  Hey, we've got some friends that live in Shawnee.  I'm not going to ask if you know them, I always feel like that's a dumb question when I get ask it because I know Shawnee is big and you probably don't know everyone... lol  Until later...... Thank you for the welcome and all the great information. I am just finding time now to get on the site and figure out how to communicate. Just heard from our SR today and he is doing well. Feels he was very prepared for RTC. Apparently some others in his division are having a harder time adjusting and under estimated how much conditioning they needed to do before showing up at RTC. I will pass on you thanks to Cam.

Thank you all for your kind words and helpful information, really looking forward to becoming part of the famil! Also a heartfelt thanks to all of your family members serving our great nation, without them we would have nothing!

A litttle about my son Joey. He graduated the "Nuke" program in October, he was chosen as the Section Leader thru Prototype and was then awarded the "Outstanding Military Bearing" award at graduation. He graduated in the Top 10% of his class overall, in my book this makes him a very dedicated and valuable asset to our Navy, hope they see it that way as well. Ok, enough bragging, sorry...

His Grandfather and Great Grandfather both served in the Navy as well, G.G. served on the Boxer in WWII. His Great Uncle was blown off the deck of a ship at Pearl Harbor where he was serving as a Sea Bee. He survived and fought bravely in WWII as well. Ok, enough history, lol.

Joey has two wonderful sisters who admire him, one graduated Wilkes College and is studying to become a Nurse Practitioner(she also just gave me a grandson!). Baby Sis is a sophmore at R.I.T. in the Chemical Engineering program. As you can see I am very blessed & proud of my children, afterall they are all we really leave behind when we go. Pretty sure I'm leaving the wood pile higher than I found it...

Thanks , Tim and everyone else for the overwhelming response to my signining up on 'Navy Dads'.  I'm actually a Grandfather to two of the finest sailors (Tim & Ryan) in the Navy.  They are doing a super good job, as are all the rest of our military personell.  Thanks.  This Navy Dads will take a bit of learnining, but I'm sure I'll get it. You guys have been helpful in you comments and suggestions as how to navigate all this.  I'll get tips from my son (Will) as well.  For now- thanks!!!  p.s.  Just call me Bill Or Wild Bill.

I served 9 years myself 88-97. I am very confident my son will find his way in life with the Foundation the Navy will provide.  Do you know of Groups that have the same PIR and Div as my Son's? PIR 02FEB13 Ship 12 Div 089

Thanks Paul, Calvin, Jim, Gary, & Tim for the well wishes & all the great info! Between this site & Navymoms my wife & I are so grateful for these fantastic resources! We were clueless & starving for info so we can be better informed & knowledgeable proud Navy parents. Like everyone we were nervous but are now more excited than anything. Our son Brian has always wanted to serve his country in the Navy. My nephew served on the Eisenhower & is now a NYPD police officer and this is Brian's mentor. His uncles & grandfather were police, firefighters, & merchant marines. Civil service is his calling for sure! Thanks again everyone!

Thank you for your warm welcome. My son, SR McClure, Sean M, is going into his 3rd week of boot camp. He is currently aboard Ship 2 (USS Reuben James) Division 926. At this time, we have not heard from him at all. I understand this is normal but, I'm not having much luck reassuring his mother. Again, thank you for your personal welcome and I look forward to sharing his progress in the near future.

Our family don't have any military member before. We wanted to attend our SR's PIR on july 3 but we're denied of US visa in manila, philippines. Hopefully we can see our son soon. We miss him so much! I always visit your site to gain more knowledge about our SR and the Navy.
