Not sure of the rating, but his A school is in Goose Creek, SC.

Thank you Tom,  appreciate it! Can you tell me how I find a group for my PIR date? I'd love to find a support group of some kind that we can share what we hear is going on during this process. It's what I call this as a mom it's a total process having our children leave home its an adjustment that's for sure!

Tom, I will definitely thank Christopher on behalf of you and everyone here! He has been an inspiration for me since we became friends nearly a decade ago. I helped him finish his bachelors and begin his masters program after he retired. He has encouraged me for some time to explore a career in the Navy. After finishing two masters programs of my own, I would like to put that knowledge to good use, and become a great leader. The Navy looks like a great place to do just that. I am happy to be able to learn more about the Navy here, and I am even more happy to be so well received.

Thank you for the add and the welcomes.  My sailors are both first class POs, so I am well set for Navy information myself, but the loss of Navy for Moms left me feeling homeless.  I hope to get the hang of the community and the layout here, and perhaps reconnect with old friends, and make some new ones.  I was an ET, know a fair bit about Great Lakes, Japan, and Diego Garcia.  If anyone recognized the username Anti M (Aunty Em), give me a shout!  

Thank you for the kind words and all of the valuable information on your site. I loved my military time and would love to be back on active duty. I am so proud on my son and his choice and support him with everything I have. The information that you provide on this site helps me as a Army service man to understand the Navy side. I am sure that you are that same as I am about panning through a large amount of information in a very short time because it is the military way.

hanks for the response Tom.  My son left for Basic Training last week, so we are very new to this.  He qualified for Aircrew Rescue Swimmer.  I assume he heads to RTC once he competes basic or is RTC what he is going through now.    We just received his mailing address letter, so looking forward to getting letter to him.  Tom

Thank you for the warm welcome and encouraging words. I have found a few great groups to join in the last couple of days. I am so amazed and humbled by all the wonderful Navy people who have made me feel welcome and " Take this person under our wing" feeling I get from everyone. Since my son left Monday I have been becoming a true Navy mom and spent so much time reading. Great way to keep your mind occupied when missing your new recruit.

Thank you, Tom, for your welcoming words.  Received Rebekah's box on Saturday....along with her clothes,phone, etc was her airline ticket/traveling info etc....but no informational letter. Perhaps this week...hope so as started a letter to her a few days ago....and it's already starting to take book form lol.

Thank you Tom!  It's definitely different right now, not being able to contact him.  He originally was supposed to go to Boot in June, but an opening occurred and he was asked if he wanted to leave early.  He was so excited as it was for the June date that he jumped on the earlier date.  As a parent, we are always protective and planning for things for our child's future, but now that he is gone, plans we had before he was supposed to leave in June have definitely changed and the next time I will see him, he will be a changed man.  I have a question about the Great Lakes area.  I received the package from the Navy in reference to his graduation date.  I will need to make hotel/car/flight reservations.  Many of the hotels listed on the brochure are the kind of hotels which are dives here in the Atlanta area.  Obviously, I would like to stay close to the base, but in a relatively safe area (his grandmother is coming to the ceremony).  Is there an area which is close and fits the bill for a safe area?

Thanks for the reply.  Small world, right?  Yes, Matt is on the Carl Vinson right now and I just got the "You're approved" for the Tiger Cruise in May.  Matt is still finding his way in the Navy, wanting to get back to Special Forces.  Hopefully that will happen this summer.

Anyway I love this site.  I've already accumulated a few pages of notes for the cruise.  Thanks to you and everybody on here.

Thank you for the warm welcome.  Trevor had been in Boot Camp about a month now.  I wish I had found Navy Dads MUCH sooner.  Great Information and great insight in the world that kinda leaves us behind to wonder how things are going .  Ultimately great for them but tough to start. You guys do a great job, thank you for that!
