What Were Your Feelings When Your Sailor Joined The Navy:
Proud but anxious. Difficult on my part to "Cut him loose", felt there was still much more to teach him about the world. I had to realize he is a man and he needed to experience and grow on his own. Still anxious though.
Hello Tracy, You should be very proud of your son. He has a hard road ahead of him, but to say the least, it is worth it. If you get a chance go and visit him in SC you should. I always told my son " If it was easy, everyone would be a Nuclear engineer". Best wishes to your whole family . And THANK YOU for your service, I am indebted to you. Your friend and Navy Dad John
I know what you are going through and believe me it was hard to let go. But, we must have done something right for each of our kids to have choosen the paths that they did. I like you, are so very proud of my daughter and equally proud of my son-in-law. Please thank you son for his service for me and tell him to hang in there.
Whenever you get the chance to go to Charleston to see you son there is a Holiday Inn Express that you can stay in North Charleston that is within a fifteen minute drive of the base. It is clean and in a good part of town with plenty of places to eat close by.
If you like Japaneese food I highly recommend Yukoso which is also in North Charleston. I also recommend that you take the time to go to downtown Charleston as there are several good places to eat such as Jim & Nic's for BBQ and the Mellow Mushroom for Pizza and both of these are on King Street.
As I come up with more stuff to do I will pass it along.
