Dan, we didn't know the flight information until we were able to talk to
him immediately following the ceremony. They have their orders prior to
the ceremony but you won't be able to talk to him until after. I'm
somewhat confident that your grandson would fly out of Midway. The reason I say this is that then they arrive at Midway, there are at least 100 to 150 sailors and since Midway pretty much shuts down over night they use the baggage claim areas to segregate the sailors into different groups based on flights. There were 5 different groups when we were there and they flew
out anywhere from 5:30-7:30 Saturday morning. One thing to note, Midway is farther away from the base than Ohare, but is a much smaller airport.
Regarding how much time you will have with him on Friday following the
ceremony. We had him from about 11:00 a.m. and he had to be back on base no later than 7:00. I know it's not much time, but what time we had was great.
