I was searching for information related to RTC and found a link to Navydads.
David, my son was a section leader when he was in boot. Here is the definition.
Section Leaders are responsible to the respective Watch Section Leader for:
1. Supervise and assisting the recruits in respective sections.
2. Monitoring personal cleanliness, military appearance, clothing care and watch standing for recruits assigned to respective sections.
This generally means he stood out in some category. My son earned a perfect 5.0 on PI/DMI which stands for Personal inspection (uniform/grooming) and Departmental Material Inspection (bunk, lockers). So it is an honor. BZ to you SR!!
I heard from him Saturday morning as well. I just got back from deer hunting. Good thing he didn't call earlier...I do not have cell reception where I hunt.
David, you are so welcome! I remember receiving the call from my son. He said, "Dad, remember when I said all I want to do is fly under the radar at boot camp, well it didn't happen. I made Section Leader!" The tears of pride just rolled down my cheeks. So indeed you and your wife have a great deal to proud of....in addition to the fact that your son has chosen a road least traveled and is serving our great country! Likewise, God Bless your SR for that decision and God Bless you, your wife, and family as you go through this Navy experience with your son! It only gets better!
