Michael, that is awesome! First your Dad serving in the Aleutians (that is where the Japanese Imperial Navy sent ships to try and divert our attention when the real plan was to take Midway) and you being there 40 years later! That had to be almost surreal! And two sons soon to be in the Navy? I'm wondering if police uniform shirts come in the buttonless variety? :-) Congratulations! My son graduated from college with a degree in Criminal Justice. But he enlisted as an IT position was open and he knew that even if he stays for only 4 years, it will provide invaluable training/experience for the civilian job market. But if things go to plan he wants to go to OCS and eventually become a Navy Aviator. But one step at a time....he needs to do well in IT A school.

Michael, thanks! I have high hopes for my son. He really seems focused now. I couldn't agree with you more about the attributes of the military and the positive impact it has on young people. So many things in life are centered on individual gain that one can easlily lose site of community. There is nothing quite like the military to teach you community/teaming.
