- I'm very proud of her decision to serve in the Navy. It's hard to know that I wont be able to see her everyday, but I trust in God that He will take good care of her and watch over her. I strongly belief that my lovely daughter made the best decision for her future!

Gil, thanks for the encouragement. I feel exactly as you did. The kid is my best friend and now he's gone, leaving a hole that can't be filled for Mom and I. I just have been praying for him and writing letters awaiting his address so I can send them. You would think I would be ok and understand. I went through the exact same place and submarine program as he is/will do. I think it makes it harder knowing what he'll face. Not sure. We're proud, but as I stated, we had a different plan for him and he threw us a curve ball. He was a district champion in the 100 fly in swimming. Just thought he was going to go to college. We're adapting as best we can. My biggest fear is that it will change his bright disposition into a cynical Navy man. I knew plenty of them. God bless your daughter and family.
