Ron,
My son Peter is coming home on leave from A school shortly as well. He said next Friday! He does not have much money for air fare, which is OK. Does the Navy or military help these sailors get air fare at a military discount home or is it solely up to each of them to figure it all out on their own? I have started searching and it is like 500 plus for a one way ticket!

Thanks and hope your son is doing well.

Like you and so many dads, I also went through that phase with him where I tried my best to not kill him out of a desire for him to move away from childhood and into becoming an adult. I can tell by his texts, Facebook posts, and our phone conversations that the Navy has helped him move into that phase. Fortunately,…

I can tell by his texts, Facebook posts, and our phone conversations that the Navy has helped him move into that phase. Fortunately, he showed some insight before he left for Boot Camp by stating that he knew that once he returned home, his friends would still be in the same place, doing the same things. However, I know this will hit him in some way once he actually sees it.
