Hi Michele, Buck is doing good. He is still in Great Lakes in school. He says he should be done sometime in July and then ship to Panama City for dive school. He came home over Memorial Day and marched in the parade with the Legion color guard, and tried to catch up with all his friends. So far he is enjoying the Navy, with the exception of Lake Michigan. They spend alot of time working out in and around it, and it's not up to 50 degrees yet. How is everything going with Micheal? Hopefully good. Well, it was good to hear from you, and I hope all is well. Talk to ya later. Tom

Hi Michele, Sorry we missed you all at the meet-n-greet. After all the driving, and a few miles backtracking, it was all we could do to keep our eyes open. Friday definatly made up for it. Was that awsome or what? We got lucky and got all weekend with Buck after he checked into his new barracks. I just wish the weather would have been nicer. Hope your time spent with Michael was good, but then again, how could it not. Idon't know about you, but I thought it was harder to take him back Sunday than it was saying good-bye at the MEPS station. Buck has his cell, and he calls about every night now, so all is well again, and he also gets to come home for Memorial day. Glad we kept the directions lol. Well, I will talk to you later, Tom

Thank you Michele for the info. I think it will be the answer we needed. My wife and I are so excited about seeing our new "sailor", that it is all we can think about. We leave one week from today to see our son's PIR. Tell your son we said thank you for serving our country.

Hi Michele: Thank you very much for the information about security at the Aiport. Just what we wanted to know. Not sure which Airport Tyler will be flying out from, we will find out this Friday at PIR. Information should be good at either Ohare or Midway. Tyler is in Division 174, Ship 13. He will be going to Corry Station (Pensacola, Fla) for "A" School as a CTT (Cryptologic Tech). Tell Michael Best of Luck and this is not goodby just moving ahead with a Navy Career. See you in the Fleet. Bravo Zula.

Hello Michele: So you are one week ahead of us. Boy that is great to have these new Sailors. Sounds like you will be able to go through Security at the Airport, but we will be very interested to know how everything goes at the airport. Tell Michael everyone is proud of what he has done and what he is going to be doing. GO SAILOR !!

Hi Michele, yes we are very proud of Buck. We are also packed and ready. We are leaving Thursday morning and should get there around 2 or 3 pm, then we have to pick Beckys mom up an hour away. I,m hoping to get over to meet everyone who have made the last eight weeks bearable, but it's gonna depend on how tired we are from all the driving, (nine hours). Well, you and yours have a safe trip, and hopefully we will see you at the meet n greet. Tom

Welcome to NavyDads Michele! I'm sure you'll find the site as fun and useful as I have. Explore and make some friends, add your comments to a discussion or two, read the postings in the various groups-- even start one or two. I have! If you have any questions or concerns about your sailor and what he is going through...ask! I'm sure someone here will have the answer or can point you in the right direction to find out. I'm lucky enough to have two sailors- my son Eric just returned from a seven-month cruise on the carrier Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and my daughter Kat returned last fall from a seven-month cruise on the carrier Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). And Michele this is a great place to brag about your sailor as well! So join in and let us know how Michael is doing! Best Regards- Paul

Michele, got a call from our new sailor tonight. Buck sounded great, but tired. He said they are pretty much done, but would practice for graduation and do alot of cleaning. We were at my daughters softball game when he called, so he got to talk to a few family members. Sounds like the Navy has really changed him, he cussed, something he never does around us. At least not that we could hear anyway;-) Well, gotta go, almost midnight , and we have a double header in the morning. Six days and a wake up, can't wait :-) Tom

Hi Michele, congrats on your new sailor. Buck is an hour and a half into battlestations by now, and I'm sure it's pretty hectic right now, but they should be fine. When I went through boot camp, our training ship was the USS RECRUIT. It was pretty much a wooden building shaped like a ship, nothing like today. From what I've seen on the internet, battlestations is alot like the refresher training before a west pac cruise. Those were some long days , usually three or four , but they went by fast, as you are always busy, and at sea.

Hi Michele, my sons pir is also 4-24. He is in Div 823. My wife is a member of n4ms, and is in your pir group. She is RebeccaBucksmom. I have enjoyed the last seven weeks reading the daily " Navel Novel", boy can you guys chat. As you can see, your group has more activity in one day than our whole site does in a whole week lol. I was just getting ready to check the chatter over on n4ms, and saw you joined us here and thought I would say hi real quick. See ya on the flip side. Tom B.
