Thanks Paul for the friendly welcome. It makes me feel really good and when David goes to OCS (whenever that will be) we will be anxious but very proud.
At some point, I'll want to ask for time off from work for my son's graduation. Of course, we don't know yet when that date will be. When is it parents usually get an idea when their sons and daughters might graduate? Also, do new officers usually head off to their next duty assignments right away, or is there a gap---and what happens during the gap?
Okay, that's crazy - what a small world! I've been working with Newmont (directly or through EPCM firms ... Fluor Daniel, Jacobs, CH2M Hill) since 1996. I'm sure we know a lot of the same people!
Also, nice to meet a fellow miner, nice! And I'm actually a "gold digger" ... lol. I work for the #2 gold miner in the world ... Newmont. Interesting industry - but a very far cry from military for sure!
Thanks, Paul - lots of great information and it's nice to be "welcomed". I'm looking forward to being apart of this community as my son starts his journey!
Thanks for your warm welcome Paul. Congratulations and thank you for having so many family members who are dedicated to service; we are grateful.
Our son reports to boot camp on March 6th so we're all getting a little antsy and are still a bit overwhelmed. I don't think that we've spent enough time on the website and expect that we'll be spending a lot more time here in the coming days, weeks, months doing research. We're still in the learning stage and still have a lot of questions...not really sure where to begin but from what I'm seeing so far the answers are here.
Thank you for the add! I look forward to learning more from the page. I do have some questions and will post when I actually know more information from my son.
Thank you Paul. I look forward to utilizing the many resources of the NavyDads site. I am like all Navy Dads, so proud of my son and the incredible hard work he has put into getting to this point in his career. He is still a young pup in terms of his overall Navy career but growing stronger everyday. He survived BUD's so he is well on his way! I am so proud of him.
Paul thanks for the kind note. As an old Soldier and son of a CPO I am very proud of the decision my son made to join the Navy. I think you and the folks involved with this site have done a great job. It has been invaluable in "explaining" things to my Army wife. I hope that I can be value added in the future.

Thank you,Paul. My husband just called to say he had just gotten off the phone with our daughter. She needed contact info for an additional security reference....does this need indicate an issue? My husband says no....that she sounded great....but was to no avail....I'll be fretting till she's settled...

Thank you Paul. Our son heads to Newport this weekend. He has tenacity, which we're confident will see him through!

Thank you Paul, I am looking forward to exploring the website!
Thank you so very much for your support. He has been gone for 2 months and it's been rough. I wish I could just drop everything and fly to Japan.
