Hi Paul,
What's up with your two?
Andrew is settling in and is now attached to a squadron. until he rejoins his. This week he is attending the mandatory indocs and quals. He likes Hawaii, the base and gives the impression that he likes and is "fitting in" with his shipmates.
We are encouraging him to request leave for his brother's high school graduation in June. He has begun working on that. I know his brother wants him to be home for that night. We are still not sure whether or not he will join his squadron in the Middle East.
Thank you for your heart felt comments. I feel we should have all of the members see the video. May be it would be best to place it on the front page or circle it with flags. It should be made to stand out so everyone can share in Mr Blacks wisdom Thank you. Gary
Thanks Paul. These are uncharted waters for me ...my first to leave home. Eventhough I've deployed more than once and left my children behind, this is the first time I've been left behind. It feels good to hear others talk in a reassuring manner. Thanks again for taking the time to respond.
Paul,
I noticed the label - it's real nice. That would be good for getting the word out about NavyDads. I need to see if I can come up with something also. My computer experience and knowledge is somewhat limited. Most of what I've learned has been during the last 3 yrs. I took a class at Yavapai college in Microsoft office, but other than that, I am self-taught. I'll take whatever advice I can get.
Thank you much for your comment on time spent between recruit training to A school. Especially liked the part about the mop. Will pass that on to my son in the next letter. Thanks again.
Thanks for your comment on SEAL Dads. It is appreciated by me and I think all the Dads would agree. I would like to Congradulate all Dad on this site for what there Sons and Daughters are doing. The Navy is a Team and each and every rate is important to the success of The Navy.
Paul, thank you for your comments. I plan to be more active once I learn more about this site. Nicholas is in his 2nd actual week of training by week 8, I should be a posting wiz.
Ahoy Paul...know what you mean about trying to catch up here, a lot of activity and I try to keep in touch with my homeys as much as possible. In order...Conner surviving orientation in Bangor...should rank up in March. Says the only thing holding him back was a few MA's not studying enough...thus more PT in full gear. He is well and doing fine, will go on the wire 03Feb. Meagan has been on hold. This has been the shoe that dropped. Upon further med eval's for AC school they found out she had been hospitalzed in pysch ward a few years back (thanks to a**hole past boyfriend who if I ever run into will have to deal with a most unfortuante situation). I was not aware of this as her mom kept info from me. Meg's spirits are good, she realizes her Navy days could be over soon. That being said, Meg's hubby (her rock) Jeremy is checking into off base housing at Norfolk to get her there asap afterwards. He's working on 4 NEC's (I have no idea what they are, can't remember the acronyms) and will go to San Diego for additional training in Feb. All for now.
Thank you for the info i will get involved with that group. Hows your sailors doing? Samantha is still waiting for her security clearance so she can class up. Time and advice has given her a much better attitude toward her military life. I am very excited for her to start school so she can really show what she is all about and has to offer the Navy.
I feel like I am in the thick of it! Andrew took his phone with him so I have heard from him when his plane lands.
I have already written him a letter lol. This experance will be good for him I will miss him but I know this is what he needs to be doing.
Yes, now that would have been a cool picture for the site. Out of all our children do you think one of them would have catpured it? Nope! Evan is meeting up with Paul tommorow I think. He hasn't been able to get in touch with Kat yet. Let's hope they at least get to meet each other before they scatter.
Hello Paul! So you saw my little gripe session. Grrr, working's over rated! The things I learn on here about you guys. It's great. We study an Okinawan style called Won Hop Loong Chuan. Most of the group trains in Houston. Others are in California and back east. Our instructor is the Grand Master. He really is very good. I have my black belt...name only! My husband has his as well and our 16 yr old has picked it up. We do a lot of forms, exercises, he's starting to take us into deeper techniques...different timing, different breathing. A lot for me to catch up on. We entered a few tournaments years ago, but the style we do is so unique, we never did very well. The judges didn't know how to score us. I did get either a 3rd or 2nd place trophy....got mad in the middle of my kata and showed a lot more power at the end! Martin can watch it and tell you exactly where my anger kicked in. I'm sure there's a lot of schools there that would be happy to work with you. Look up a few in the phone book! I hope you got some beauty sleep, it's 2:30 here and I'm ready for a nap! How's Kat doing? Would love to hear from you again. Ummm tell that NavyDads Admin he's not paying you enough bucks to keep you from visiting us on our pages!
Thank you I watched those the first day I found this site. They're Great. Just waiting at this point. I know he's busy and learning to be a sailor. I'm very proud of him.
Thank you very much I plan on checking out the infromation you have here. I think this is a great idea. So many young people are joining the milatary now. Many of themare leaving their loved ones for the first time. I was in the Navy 26 years ago so I have an idea of what to expect. Things have changed so much since then it's nice to find this from to get information on what is different and what he's going through now. Greg is in reciving this week and starts basic Monday the 19th.
Yes, I am extremely proud of that legacy! I sent Billy's dad an invite to join Navy Dads, so I'm hoping he will do that and be a part of a wonderful and supportive group of parents.
Paul,
That is a very nice picture of Kat. How nice the sailors are able to get their portraits done like that. I have so much to look forward too and I am excited for what adventures await Billy.
I just saw that the Stennis went out. Is that Kat's flattop?
Andrew worked 13 hours last Saturday and the maintenance group he is assigned to is "all hands" again this coming Saturday. Too busy to even think about tours and getting to see much of Hawaii. He and his room mate have been to the beach on base.
Hey Paul,
Andrew is get acclimated to his new base! He is having a tough time with the weather though. The 77-degree days and the 68-degree nights are tough. I think he be able to get used to the Marine Base Hawaii.
His squadron is deployed to the Middle East. He believes that he will be sent to join them in the next weeks.
In the mean time he is doing the check in stuff and he tells me he has a lot of quals to do. He is assigned to a combined maintenance group for now. He was put to work yesterday and actually got to help fix something!
Whets up with your 2 this week?

Thank you so much - My son leaves in a couple of weeks - He has a SWCC contract.
I hope that I can contribute something to the site.
