USS Zumwalt DDG-1000
I am so proud of my son who is just completing (EM) school next week and yesterday he found out that his first ship he is assigned to is the new USS Zumwalt DDG-1000. This ship starts a new era in the Navy and will be very historic. I have been reading about her for at least 10 years and have been amazed at her capabilities especialy stealth technology. I can't think of a more important and anticipated new addition to the fleet in recent history and to think my son will be a "Plank Keeper" CONGRATULATIONS SON

Congratulations!!! I remember graduating from EM "A" many years ago and going to the Nimitz as part of it's Pre-Commissioning Unit. It's awesome to be part of an original crew, especially on a ship like the USS Zumwalt!!! I wish him the very best!!!

I heard through the grapevine that there were talks about possibly implementing precom unit pay for plank owners. This was of course before the sequestration. But that be awesome if it ever comes into play...
