No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny
Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.
RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

Got mail from Savannah today!! One of the things she said was that her RDC's told them they were going to push hard and strive to be a "500 Division". Anybody know what a 500 Div. is?

Just a heads up - The RTC FB page is doing a weekly trivia question again every Tuesday. The winner gets to have a photo of their SR's division posted on the FB page. It started back up yesterday. Not sure what division they will be posting up today. Hopefully it's the one my son is in!

My daughter is scheduled for PIR on August 30th. She is doing well, but no phone call for the last 2 weeks. I do miss her terribly. From what I gather in her letters, she is striving. Already went up in rank and earned a "sharpshooter" ribbon. Anyone else have a PIR on August 30th? Also, I love Wednesdays. That is letter day here at home!

Does anyone know the procedure for getting on base to say to see our sons ship off on a deployment. He is checking on it through his LPO but if anyone has ever gotten to do this, some help would be appreciated.

Glad it worked out....we honestly don't know what the "normal" routine is for this kind of "un-normal" situation.......believe you are the first member to go through this particular series of events with the specific questions you had.......thanks for sharing and keeping us informed....
