Navy Dads

I have been told that only 4 family members may attend the ceremony and that only one car may park. Any reliable info here?

The rules say only 4 adults. Children do not count. You only get one parking pass so only one car will get on base. When we went to graduation we had 5 adults and 3 children. When all got in thankfully. We figured once we all showed up in 1 car that they wouldn't turn one of us away. So again 4 adults mom, dad, grandmother, and grandfather. You can have 10 children they do not count as one of the 4.
Niles - Unfortunately each week a graduation takes place it is different. When EG's son and my son graduated they didn't have but 8 or 9 divisions to graduate, therefore we had all the room in the world and they were pretty slack on the 4 person, 1 car rule. I believe up too 15 divisions can graduate at once so if your son Evan can keep you posted close to graduation on how many divisions are graduating that will tell you if you can slip in more people. We had 6 adults with us and 2 children plus 2 vehicles. . .my son was able to mail his grandparents another vehicle pass at the last minute (they live in a different state then us). Hope this helps :) God Bless, Michele

HI we just PIR today, we had nine divisions 677 sailors..point is we were pretty full. I looked into this prior to today and found out the recruit needs to list the attendees, however no one gets turned away if you have id. i do believe only one car pass is issued, but on the offical gl lakes website it indicates unlisted persons can go to the front gate and get access. i never saw anything that indicates you will be denied entrance to the grad. today when we checked in no one looked at the invitation to see who was listed.. just get there early''6:00 am is best. takes a while to get in.

please look at the great lakes website, i believe it will answer this question.
I heard almost anyone can get in if they are with a person on the list. If you don't have a pass you can get a shuttle to the ceremony from many of the motels and hotels in the area.

I had a bit of a mess up because it did not know this and my son who wanted his girl friend to attend left my wife his stepmom off the list. Very bad!
Ouch! I'm not sure if he can ad her to the list. I can't see them turning away the stepmom at the gate. We had a family member not on the list and he made it in. We all showed up in the same car. That is the easy part. After you park you then go into a building where they check to see if you are on the list. ( this is a mad house ) I don't even think they really checked to see if the names matched. Once you reach that point I can't see them turning your wife away because it would be more trouble in my opinion to send her back. Just show up early. This is just my opinion and I would advise your wife to definitly show up with you. On a foot note slap your son upside the head for that. My son tryed the same thing. Family is always family and girlfriends can come and go. No offense to the girlfriend. I hope everyone makes it in. Best of Luck.
Where do you get the pass for the car

does this rule still apply am gettin ready to go see my brother graduate and my grandparents want to go but he has already put down the names of me my other sister and my parents
this was posted yesterday in the PIR group: "no all of the extra guests did not get in. My sister traveled with us and did not. She said they did get in to stand at one end for the liberty call. My son was outside of the hall opening doors, he did see her as she walked to the visiteter center"

My son has PIR 10/14 and it looks like there are 4 divisions graduating that day.  My wife (step mom) wants to be there but she would make 5 adults.  Do I need to have my son add her to the list or will she be able to get in?  Anyone's experience would help.  Thanks,

According to the Navy Boot Camp website : http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/upcoming_grads.asp

The 10/14/11 PIR is  TG 48, with 11 Divisions.  Some of the postings on the PIR thread here indicate that "extras" have gotten in, although the official Graduation information says "only 4".  Someone out there may be able to give you better info.

If you read through the PIR Group you'll see this posting by RTC:

The recruits have until about a week prior to graduation to make any changes to the access list. If it's too late to make any changes, then the additional guest(s) wait inside the visitors center until after the guests on the access list have been seated. If additional seating is available, then the additional guests will be allowed into the drill hall on a first-come, first-served basis as space permits
