My son knew a few weeks ago.  His PIR date is April 8th.  Cant wait to see him!!  He is grad & go.  We are going to try to meet him at the airport.  Hope this helps.
Thanks. Im getting the feeling he should know. His PIR date is April 22nd. He hasnt said anything about it. Im putting off booking a flight till we know for sure. thanks for the responce.
my daughter is a grad & go she said it about 3 weeks in she PIR on april 15th but she sayes at great lakes for school but they call her a grad &go

Grad and Go: this is from RTC's Facebook Page

FYI: The term "Grad & Go" only refers to those recruits who graduate and depart RTC on the SAME day. They grad, and they go. The only recruits who depart RTC on the same day as graduation are those who will stay in Great Lakes for A School and check into their school across the street on the main base. Recruits that are departing on Saturday are just referred to as Saturday departures.
confused!!! My SR is supposed tro go to Pcola but was told a grad-n-go and catrching plane in am.

Yes, i was confused too. I see that "Grad and go" is just that. Then there is Saturday departure. I dont think we will know till just before Graduation exactly when they fly out. Our son Graduates on Friday April 22nd. We are flying out Thursday night and returning home Sunday afternoon. I think that will cover any time we will be able to see him.

I just got back home from RTC and maybe this will help.  My son was considered "grad & go" as well.  We got to spend Friday afternoon with him, then he had to get back to base for an 20:00 watch.  He was then bussed to the airport at 02:00.  Trouble is, his flight wasn't scheduled to leave until 19:00 on Saturday. Our plan was to spend most of the day with him at the airport.  We were surprised when he suggested that we take the train into Chicago as long as we got him back in plenty of time to catch his flight.  We did this and had a blast.  Walked much of downtown and the shore to the Navy Pier. Ate meals and had coffee and hot cocoa. (It was cold on Saturday).

I think because RTC transported him to the airport that night, right after PIR, this is considered "grad and go", not just Saturday departure.  Anyway, if you have this kind of opportunity, take advantage of it. And take your son/daughter's cell phone and laptop to them.  They should be able to have it with them when they depart for "A-school".  Hope this is helpful.

U must write him. He is the only that will be able to tell.
John Banner, Thanks for the Info! my daughter was also told she is Grad and Go her "A" school for HM on May 6th. So we are also confused. Will our SR know the travel itinerary the day of Grad?

Robert

Our son also is Grad&Go on the 6th May 2011. He infor us he depart at 0:300 am . So your  daughter will know when she depart for A school.

Robert, when you get to see your sailor after PIR, they should have their flight info that they can give you on a slip of paper. So, yes, she will know her itinerary. Spend as much time with her as possible. It will be precious.
if they are grad and go, be sure to get to the airport and check in with the USO....you can get a security pass to get through the check point and spend some time with them at the gate
