Hello, I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone. The following is taken from my profile:
I am a prior enlisted Sailor that is currently serving in Naval Air Station Whidbey Island as a Naval Flight Officer. I first joined the Navy in 2004 as a Fire Controlman (FC). I served in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on the USS Port Royal and completed two WESTPAC deployments to 5th Fleet AOR.
In 2012, after achieving the rank of Petty Officer First Class (FC1) I was accepted into the Seaman to Admiral-21 (STA-21) program. I went on to graduate from Arizona State University and got my Wings of Gold after commissioning. Most recently, I completed a P-3C Orion deployment, serving in Japan, Africa, and the Arabian Gulf. Currently, our squadron is transitioning to the P-8A Poseidon aircraft.
I am familiar with the surface fleet and the Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance community. Feel free to reach out with any questions, I always like to talk Navy!
Very respectfully,
LT John Lillyblad

Yep, that's the non-acoustic crew station! Being in a squadron transitioning to the P-8s, we're definitely excited for the upgrade. The P-3 is a great aircraft but the mission systems were so cobbled together over the years. Plus, being so old they need a lot to keep 'em running. Very thankful for flying them and getting the experience but glad to be learning the P-8.
Pretty sure he was non-acoustic. We got to visit him in Jacksonville just as the P-8 was being introduced. We were there for an open house at his squadron and watched the first P-8 touch down. I gotta tell ya, almost all the guys who were there in the hanger, weren't too thrilled with the "jet" idea. I never could figure that out.
Nice, I flew P-3s too! Was he an acoustic or non-acoustic?
Welcome aboard to NavyDads.com ! When my son first enlisted, I was a little scared and worried for him. Not coming from a military family at all, I had no idea what to expect. What I found, was that he had made the most mature decision of his life!
My son Stephen was an AWO2 in the P-3 community. However, after 6 years of service, he was medically discharged in July of 2014. We are so proud of our son and his service to our country. He was with the Pelicans of VP-45!
